For me, it worked fantastic. It comes with three different tips to match your texture. Just practice on a scrap piece of drywall to get it right and then apply.

Answer:
There is no paint. This is a *texture* gun. It applies texture to walls.
After the texture dries, you can paint it with a paintbrush, roller, or spray gun.

Answer:
For best results, spray the popcorn texture and then paint after the texture has dried with a segmented foam roller. Mixing the texture with paint will not work because the paint will hinder the texture's ability to cure and stick to your ceiling.

Air Compressor Requirements

This question is from Pro Gun and Hopper for Spray Texture Repair
Asked by
Vancouver, WA

January 29, 2015
I bought this hopper. I now need to know if I have to buy a new compressor to handle it. This hopper says it needs a compressor that must be a minimum of 7 cfm @ 25 psi. How does that convert to scfm? Most of the compressors that I have looked at are rated with scfm. Does the Porter Cable 6 gallon work? Or do I need the Husky 8 gallon? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer:
I used it with my 6-gallong Porter Cable compressor (rated 2.6cfm, 90psi) and had no problems texturing a ceiling that was 12 ft x 24 ft. I never felt that the compressor was an issue - it kept up just fine.

Answer:
SCFM = is the CFM at standard conditions of 14.7 PSI at 68*F. 2 to 3 hp compressors should work. The bigger the tank, the less the compressor will ultimately run saving future wear and tear. The correct specifications are actually 4-6 CFM @50-70 PSI for this gun

I am thinking of buying a compressor to go with this gun. I see there are specifications of gallon, volt, amp, psi, etc associated with an air compressor. Is there a minimum requirement for a compressor to go with this gun? If I buy an air compressor, and this gun, are there any other parts that I need to buy to make this gun work? Thanks.

After using this one I don't even know why anyone would buy the others. On this one you can adjust the rod that pushes against the tip so that when you let off the trigger, it totally shuts off and you don't have mud draining out the tip. You will get some buildup on the tip, if you're doing a lot of texture, that may drip off but not like the other hopper guns. Having said that I will say I've only used it a couple of times but the first time I did was probably 4-5 hoppers worth and had absolutely no issues. Had to play with air pressure and mixture "thickness" but once you get that you're good to go. Cleans up super easy. Seems like it's built pretty good and there's not a lot of parts so I expect it to last a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Practical and easy I bought this to do the ceiling of a 10 X 10 bedroom after I reworked some electrical. Took me about 30-40 minutes to shoot the texture. I mixed regular tape/top mud with water in my kitchen mixer to pancake batter consistency. It took 2 bowls to do the whole ceiling (appx 1/3 of a box). I liked the splatter finish I got with the medium nozzle. I ran it at 60-65 psi on my compressor. Super value when compared to renting a sprayer. Easy to use for this like to fix it mom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool I purchased this because my 25 year old Homax DIY texture gun finally wore out. This one cost $15-$20 more than I paid for the one of less quality 25 years ago. It did a great job. It took longer for me to mix the texture than to apply the 750 square feet I had to do. Cleanup was much easier than with my old one. The hopper is a little smaller than the bigger more expensive models, but that is a blessing in disguise as it makes for a little bit lighter gun to hold and less fatigue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bathroom remodel So I started on bathroom remodel and we wanted to door textured walls. I thought renting but u the of this sprayer with these high of reviews I thought why not? So this is my first time ever using one of these sprayers and I must say it is an excellent piece of equipment. It works very nicely, I am going to have to do a second coat since one of my batches was a little wet and just smeared when I knocked it down. This tool is excellent for a first time user diy-er.
