For me, it worked fantastic. It comes with three different tips to match your texture. Just practice on a scrap piece of drywall to get it right and then apply.

Air Compressor Requirements

This question is from Pro Gun and Hopper for Spray Texture Repair
Asked by
Vancouver, WA

January 29, 2015
I bought this hopper. I now need to know if I have to buy a new compressor to handle it. This hopper says it needs a compressor that must be a minimum of 7 cfm @ 25 psi. How does that convert to scfm? Most of the compressors that I have looked at are rated with scfm. Does the Porter Cable 6 gallon work? Or do I need the Husky 8 gallon? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer:
I used it with my 6-gallong Porter Cable compressor (rated 2.6cfm, 90psi) and had no problems texturing a ceiling that was 12 ft x 24 ft. I never felt that the compressor was an issue - it kept up just fine.

Answer:
SCFM = is the CFM at standard conditions of 14.7 PSI at 68*F. 2 to 3 hp compressors should work. The bigger the tank, the less the compressor will ultimately run saving future wear and tear. The correct specifications are actually 4-6 CFM @50-70 PSI for this gun

I am thinking of buying a compressor to go with this gun. I see there are specifications of gallon, volt, amp, psi, etc associated with an air compressor. Is there a minimum requirement for a compressor to go with this gun? If I buy an air compressor, and this gun, are there any other parts that I need to buy to make this gun work? Thanks.

Answer:
THE CFM/PSI RATIO IS A REAL MYSTERIOUS THING. I WENT ON LINE (GOOGLE) AND GOT NO SATISFACTION, ONLY CONFUSION. i CAN ONLY TELL YOU THAT THE SPRAYER WILL WORK ON A COMPRESSOR THAT DELIVERS 2.6 CFM @ 90 PSI. A PORTER-CABLE 6 GALLON, 135 PSI SPRAYER FOR EXAMPLE. THIS IS PROBABLY ABOUT AS LOW AS YOU WOULD WANT TO GO

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buy this. Seriously. Tried the Walbord gun and the Wagner gun . This one had a much better set up and much easier to clean June 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gave me a professional result. I've never used a texture gun before and got the hang of it in about a minute. Easy to use and have great results. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little gun. This gun worked great. I used it for the orange peel and the knock down looks. It worked well for both. I discovered the knock down requires a little more skill because of the need to trowel the mud. Still I am pleased with the result and the gun was great for not much more than the cost of a rental. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bathroom remodel So I started on bathroom remodel and we wanted to door textured walls. I thought renting but u the of this sprayer with these high of reviews I thought why not? So this is my first time ever using one of these sprayers and I must say it is an excellent piece of equipment. It works very nicely, I am going to have to do a second coat since one of my batches was a little wet and just smeared when I knocked it down. This tool is excellent for a first time user diy-er. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great!!! Sometimes you can't be sure about the reviews, but this one was a winner! First time spraying drywall and it came out great! January 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works decently...with some personal adjustments I purchased this tool because I am currently doing a remodel to the master bedroom walk-in closet. Everything worked fine with the tool. The gun portion of the tool works great. It's just a matter of playing around with it to get a feel for it as well as to determine what sort, how thick, how heavy, etc. of texture you want. I practiced on some old cardboard and made adjustments to the nozzle as I needed. My only concern is the hopper...or rather where the hopper attaches to the gun. There is an obvious "seam" on the plastic hopper at the opening....not sure if this was an intentional design aspect or this is just a seam from the manufacturing process. With that said....the seam breaks apart and does not give a proper seal around the gun. It is obvious that ALL THE TEXTURE would be running and slopping all over the place unless I did some personal adjustments. So....I hillbilly rigged it with some duct tape. THANK GOD FOR DUCT TAPE! Basically, 1st - I did a couple of wraps with duct tape on the gun opening, 2nd - I placed the hopper over the gun opening, 3rd - I wrapped more duct tape around the hopper and gun (making sure I pushed the duct tape into all the crevices), 4th - be generous with the duct tape, 5th - happy texturing! I don't think this tool was designed to operate in this fashion. I'm sure there are "better", more "sophisticated", and more "professional" products out there....but....I also did not want to spend over a $100 on a tool that I would probably only use a couple of times a year....if that... Overall, I'm happy with the end results of the texturing ability. A little duct tape doesn't bother me too much. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Inexpensive, easy to use, got the job done! This was my first time texturing drywall - I was doing a ceiling that was 12 ft x 24 ft. I have a very small compressor (3 gallon tank), but that was enough and never seemed to be an issue. The instructions said to use 30-50 psi, mix the texture like pancake batter and use the medium tip for the finish I wanted. I used 50 psi and I think the higher pressure helped push the material up since I was doing a ceiling - for a wall less pressure would have worked well too. The unit comes with an "optional" air control valve that lets you shut off the air to the unit. In my opinion, this is not really option - it is a "must have" since the air flows all the time. The trigger just controls the texture. I did about 10 minutes of texturing (about half the ceiling) and then went back and knocked-down the texture, then finished the other half and knocked that down when I was done. The overall result was very good. The only trick was getting the texture pattern random enough - I started going back and forth, but then went to a more of an overlapping X pattern - that worked well. November 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pro Gun Hopper Sprayer If you already have a compressor, buy this and the texture type you want. I tried twice with the spray cans and remove it both times, just didn't look good. I removed a drop light from kitchen and had to do about 15 square feet of popcorn ceiling, worked great.
