Answer:
I do not think this flooring can ever be refinished. It is " handscraped " so the face of the flooring is a little textured. If it where to be sanded you would 1 - lose the handscraped effect and 2 likely sand all the way through the bumps of the wood leaving it exposed and the "valley" unsanded

Answer:
We do not recommend the refinishing of this product; the wear layer is too thin to withstand it. It can be screened and recoated, however (replacing the clear coat on the surface).

Is the Hand Scraped feature of this wood actually performed by hand or was it machined to look like it was actually hand scraped?

Elm Desert Hardwood Flooring

The prior homeowner told me he installed Elm Desert hardwood flooring from the Home Depot to the first floor of this house, and I think it's the engineered variety. We now want to install the same Elm Desert wood to our stairway (using the matching stair nose pieces available).

What will be better material for our stairs: laminate, which will match the stair nose pieces, or engineered which will match the existing wood floor?

There is a 4' x 4' tile area between the existing hardwood and where the stairs will start, so there will be a little buffer between the stairs and the existing floor in case the age of the wood causes minor differences in appearance.

Thank you!

Answer:
It is always a higher recommendation to use the Home Legend flooring that pertains to the stair nosing, for they are meant to go together in a stair installation. The matching stair nosing to your flooring, which is the HL75H, will be the HL75SNH.
