CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected This item would be really good if you had a really odd outlet that you wanted to control. To use the web features you have to pay for service. This unit has to be connected to independently of your wifi, so... you have to disconnect from your home's wifi, connect to this thing then control it, I think its easier to just go turn off the lamp by hand! If you were using it to control maybe an attic fan or other hard to reach item, it would be fine. January 20, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Sadly disapointed I was really hoping this product would deliver, I had high hopes. I was looking for a device that would allow me to turn on/off a device using WiFi and access it from anywhere with internet. The product is not easy to use. You have to setup your computer or smart phone to the WiFi hotspot generated by the device once plugged in. Then it required you to navigate to the website of the device to configure for your setup. If you are not comfortable with networking this device is going to be a big struggle for you to initially setup. Once it is setup, I came to the abrupt conclusion that if I wanted to manage this device away from home I would have to pay for a recurring membership for as long as I am using the device. The device isn't worth it and it takes too much effort and cost too much in the long run to do a simple task. January 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for the energy conscious gadget geek! I've recently been trying different methods to measure the energy usage of the different appliances in my home. I've used many different tools and methods, but this one is by far the best yet. With this device, I can monitor the power consumption of whatever I've plugged into it from anywhere at anytime. Not only that, but I can remotely shut it off at anytime as well! This is fairly simple to configure and get working. The website to manage the device is everything you might want. You can see a dashboard image of the current device status with the ability to switch it on and off. There is also a graph mode and a raw data mode with .csv export function. From that website, you can also manage multiple devices in multiple locations. There is also an iPhone app. This would be great for a property manager or landlord as well as a homeowner like myself that just wants to keep track of energy usage. October 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great with one exception It took some time getting this set up with my network and creating an account online. It works real well with one exception. After following all of the directions I can't get it to sync with my time zone. I programmed an on off schedule for a lamp I have plugged into it but it's 4 hours ahead of the times I have programmed. So I had to reprogram the schedule moving all of my on off times 4 hours later. Once I did that everything works great. You can also turn it on or off from your computer or smart phone app. It also tells how much electricity is being used for whatever you have plugged into it. October 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Power meter plus surge protector This is a pretty cool little device. I have it inline with my computer to watch how much energy I am drawing. It took me a little bit to get setup and it didn't come with any directions. I found a video tutorial online to help me with the configuration. There is an ipad/iphone app you can install to control the unit. You can turn the power on and off with the app and monitor its power usage. November 12, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't work no information with product no technical support Doesn't work. No information with product came In a plain white box. No technical support. Had to google numbers on it to find information on web. Unusable. February 4, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Incomplete This product came with absolutely no instructions whatsoever. I have not been able to use it at all. I went online to see if I could find some information but was unsuccessful . I am very disappointed. January 24, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Could use some added features Unfortunately this unit came without any instructions, so it was difficult to set up and use. (As an IT professional, I probably had a better time muddling my way through it than some might have.) The on-line information was also very limited. Once set up, it performed quite well, using the web-based dashboard that is provided. It was especially well-suited for monitoring power consumption and the status of the device that is plugged into it. One disadvantage was that there was no feasible way to power the device on and off locally (i.e. from a switch in the same room) without using the computer or a smartphone application. If the unit were on a switched plug (and turned off) it would lose its data and, of course, it could not be controlled remotely. This would be much better if it had an add-on wireless switch (even as an accessory) that could switch the device on and off locally, versus a switched plug. Otherwise, any lights or devices that it controls can only be turned on and off by logging into a computer - as opposed to flipping a switch when walking into the room. For the limited purpose of controlling a plug ONLY from a remote computer, this device is ideal. If it is a plug that you will need (or want) to control locally, it is not well suited.
