how much engine oil does it hold

Asked by: john
They why does Honda only ship it with a pint (16oz) of oil? Mine barely registered on the dipstick with the whole bottle added.

Does the HS720AM snow blower automatically turn off when you let go of the handle?

Asked by: Mike
No, the handle isn't a safety type bar that kills the motor when released, as you'd find on a lawnmower. It's actually an auger clutch bar. It engages the auger paddles and the engine will continue to run when released. You have to turn the engine kill switch to OFF or, better yet, shut off the fuel valve and let the fuel lines and carb run dry, which takes about a minute or two. That keeps the fuel, especially fuel with ethanol, from absorbing moisture from the atmosphere and gumming things up.

How to you handle over 12 inch snow, given the 12 inch height intake? Do you tilt the front-end upward? Or let the machine ride on top of the snow pile?
Asked by: jmt
I cut one path down the center of the driveway by pushing forward and pulling back. Then I take narrow swaths allowing the snow to cave off the edge to create a manageable depth. But the best bet is to just blow more frequently mid storm.

Is it normal for the unit to creep in idle ( no auger )

Does seem to have excessive vibration but it does have some in idle
Asked by: ed
Adjust the auger clutch bar and spring per the instructions. Mine was set WAAAY too tight out of the box. With the clutch bar held down, the spring should stretch from 2.95 - 3.15 inches. Mine stretched to over six inches.

HS720AM 20 in. Single-Stage Gas Snow Blower is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight Being a short woman I'm not the strongest. But this snowblower my husband picked out is pretty easy for me to use. It's light weight and super easy to maneuver around. There are pros and cons to this machine. It is light, user friendly, great for removing a fresh dump of snow right down to the concrete level. However it has a rubber auger and is not able to clear the burm left behind by the city plow trucks. That I still have to do with a shovel unless my neighbor comes by with his heavyweight metal snowblower. I love this snowblower and as a first time owner I would recommend this unit to anyone. It's easy to turn around and does the job fast.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not order this online and have it shipped I ordered this item online and received it a little over a week later. The Honda box it arrived in was ripped and the bottom of the box was missing, the item in the box was on its side and the box never sat flat on the ground. When I finally got item out of box the choke was pulled out and bent, after messing around with it and getting it bent back right and fixed I was able to quickly put together. I used it the next day to remove about 5" of snow worked great. Next day went out into garage and had a large puddle of gas in my garage around snow blower, it had leaked all the gas I put in it. I returned product at nearest Home Depot, they were great and took it back no problem. I want to completely blame the shipping company but the box it came in was missing the bottom and top and was inside a larger box, so I think homedepot bears some responsibility as well. Ended up getting a new one from a local power shop for the same price and it works great. Spoke to Home Depot representative at local Home Depot and she said orders online have been a nightmare. The way my item was packaged was incorrect and was asking to get a cracked carborator. I learned my lesson and hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Investment Live in the north east and hurt my back every winter showeling. Gifted myself the Honda blower for Christmas this year. Shipping arrived in the promised time in good condition. Filled in engine oil (included) and gas and it started up easily. Havent got a chance to put it to actual test yet. Looks and feels well built with good quality parts.

Home Depot was great - ordered it online and they delivered before the promised date (box was in decent shape, etc). So - the day it snowed got it ready to go and 2 of the 3 chute screws came off while the first snow blow round. Had to stop cleaning and rush to Home Depot to buy aftermarket screws & nuts...not a big deal however after spending 600 you would expect these things done come up. Returning the unit and will get a Toro

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't get anything else While this single stage snow blower costs a bit more than others, it is absolutely worth it. I took it out of the box, filled the oil, added gas, and pulled once. It fired up and I cleared 3 driveways of about 12 inches of snow. No clogs, it cleared down to the pavement, and was absolutely flawless. It would throw snow from the top of the driveway down to the road. The only thing I have to be critical about is that the handle for the chute is overly long. This makes getting in close to things and blowing snow away from them a bit tricky.

We had 12" of moderate weight snow. I cleared the walks of several homes without a single clogged chute. The engine starts on the first pull and is not as loud as my previous blower. This is my fourth single-stage blower.. first Honda. it is lighter and more powerful than the other brands I previously owned. Only minor thing I would suggest Honda re-engineer is to remove the curved axle that makes the blower hard to take up and down stairs.
