Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by EricHoover1 Good overall
Good: suction, reliability, attachments, ease of disconnection of nozzle from unit, auto-retract cord. Bad: heavy & bulky, real need to pull on hose can damage hose, ease of bag to puff out dust when replacing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rugsucker Brush bristles are too short.
I would be pretty happy with this machine except most of what I use it on is very short flat carpet and the brush doesn't contact the floor. There is no height adjustment on the power head so I would need longer brushes on the beater bar or maybe smaller wheels on the power head so the brushes could actually do their job and agitate the carpet. I wish I had known this before I purchased it so I could have gotten a vacuum that would do what I needed. I would not reccomend this vacuum if you have very short piled carpet other wise I would.

I purchased this particular model about 2 years ago. I always replaced the bag when needed. Recently the bottom part of the suction had a "short circuit" to the point you literally had to lift the suction unit by the handle to get the rollers to turn on.The hose which connects the assembly at the top ripped like paper. This is my second Hoover canister vacuum and it will be my last. As long as you are willing to spend over $150.00 every two years for a replacement vacuum you have nothing to worry about. Great vacuum, great suction, very versatile while it lasts...

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Reginault Compact but not well designed
This vacuum is easy to pull around the house, however it will sometimes roll over. With the buttons on the top, it may turn itself off if it rolls.
Powerbar works well, but it will sometimes kick larger particles beyond the suction nozzle. Suction alone (powerbar not turning) on hardwood/laminate will throw anything but dust beyond the nozzle if you go too fast.
The vacuum and power cable get hot after a few minutes of use, even running idle with no load and no bag. I only run it for five minutes at a time before letting it cool down.
The power cable is pretty short, you have to change outlets for nearly every room.

I purchased this a 4 years ago and it has been sitting unused for over 2. The initial problem was the hose pulled away from the canister. Returned for a new one.....ok good to go. Less than 6 months later the hoses started coming apart while vacuuming. Inspection revealed that whatever it was that kept the hoses together, was broken. And one by one each section broke so now it sits...unused. What a waste of money. This is a common problem. Hoover should be replacing these for free. It should have been a recall like they do in the auto industry. But to charge $60 for hoses when the vacuum that didnt even cost $200 in unconscionable.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by totallycontent Great vacuum for the money! Can't find a better value.
I love this vacuum. It is light weight, has great suction, that can be adjusted for varies things. It is easy to vacuum under furniture because it lays flat. It has several attachments that come in hand for curtains and base boards. I have had it for about 1 1/2 years and I love it. Can't find a better vacuum for the money!!

I bought this one because of the name brand and a canister. After one week. The hose separated from the base. Had it replaced and the wrapped duct tape around it to help prevent it from breaking again. Seems to work. My wife does not like it so I only use it in the basement. I let my daughter use it once she broke the hose again. You have to be very delicate with it. To me poor quality and would never purchase a Hoover again, because if they build such a cheap hose where it should be the strongest part of a canister vacuum then I can imaging that the rest of the quality is poor.
