Answer:
A very subjective question. Selecting wainscoting is like buying clothes. It has to look good to you. Do you want wood, painted, does it need to match other elements in the kitchen, what trim strikes your fancy. This needs a lot of research by you. The internet is full of examples of what others have done to give you ideas. Let your fingers do the walking. Then you need to find a source of materials. Read More

The internet is full of examples of what others have done to give you ideas. Let your fingers do the walking. Then you need to find a source of materials. Unfortunately, many lumber companies have really cut back on what they offer for paneling along these lines. Much is now special order. There are other real wood alternatives. It comes down to taste and budget. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheaply Made, Expensive to Buy This baseboard was the cheap cardboard variety. It is fragile, but worse: the gap at the top created to have the wainscot slip into it was incredibly wide. You could put three boards into the same space. That means lots of caulking, which cheapens it. I did two rooms, and can say that this, along with the board I got, were not worth the $600 I put into the project! Buyer beware! August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Packaged well At first i was a little disappointed with the gap between the board and baseboard, It certainly made it easier to paint them both. I can always fill that in later if it bugs me enough. I did however purchase more board as the house is over 100 years and the baseboards were too short. With the extra 6"it's perfect and you'd never know. The baseboard just sits on top nicely and raises the whole thing to the perfect original height! February 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not well packed I previously ordered four of these, and they arrived fine. I found I needed one more, and the store does not stock these. This one was bent, and one end was slightly crushed. If I had needed the whole piece, I would have taken it back, but enough was good to finish my job. The product was fine, the packaging, not so much. August 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wainscoat Baseboard (composite) This product was easy to use and looks great. Note - this was an online order. Only problem was called online Home Depot help line to get the depth of the relief cut in the chair rail and baseboard to verify if it was exactly the same as the thickness of the bead board or not. This information was not available through the help line. Turns out the relief cut was twice the thickness of the board so had to fill the gap. March 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MDF Wainscot Base The wainscot base was easy to cut, easy to install, and easy to paint. My breakfast nook looks great! September 2, 2014
