Answer:
There is no wood grain since these are made of compressed sawdust and resin. They are primed white. There are painting techniques that simulate wood grain and those would work on this molding.

The installation guide shows blocks at each corner. Is this product appropriate for simple miter corners? Thanks!

Miter outside corners, cope inside corners. You put the first piece of this baseboard in to an inside corner with a square cut. Cut the piece on the other side of that corner at a 45 degree angle then cut that face with a coping saw following the edge of the miter. Easier to do than to explain. Answer:
This base molding miters extremely easy. my corners inside and out are just perfect. One inside corner is not sq. So I took little pieces to see what angle that one needed. I ordered a couple of inside and outside corner blocks and found I liked the miter corners best.

How do you apply this product? Do you just caulk it as was stated in one of the reiviews or can you use adhesive? Which is the safest in a kitchen?

Answer:
I think a little more than caulk is needed. I have a small compressor and used a gun with 18 gage brads. Almost not visible where it went in and the final coat of paint covers the tiny hole.

Answer:
The caulking mentioned in my review is what you do to the top and bottom to fill gaps between the molding and the wall or floor. You may obtain acceptable results with adhesive alone but you will need to find a way to put pressure on while the adhesive dries. Best bet is to use nails in addition to the adhesive or just nails. I wouldn't bet a nickel on caulk holding it in place.

Looks like they only offer it in 8' lengths in all MDF mouldings.
I can only speculate but longer than 8' is terribly expensive to ship. Also because MDF has different physical characteristics, a longer piece standing upright in a rack will bend and then take a set with the bend making it unsalable.

We use it in our kitchen and I got many complements...The handyman that installed it said that it was easy to work with it, he painted it and applied caulking, he also said he will recomend it to his clients. At the beginning we wanted to buy 3 inches baseboard but then we decided for 4 inches and we like it very much, makes the kitchen modern, clean and matches with the floor. We are also planning to install it in the living/ dinning room. We are very happy with the product and exceeded our expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks expensive when installed and painted. I read many previous reviews and still decided to get this as my budged is limited. I love it. Was easy to work with and I cut, fit, painted and installed it myself. I did learn to handle it gently. Before the enamel paint, seemed to ding easily. I knew what the product was and am not disappointed. Miter cuts were very easy to fit. I am not a professional. I am a lady in my 70's. Guarantee if you came to my home, you would be impressed for it looks like real wood.
