Customer Questions & Answers

Do you have to use the lights with this fan? Or can you install without the lighting kit?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, you can install without a light kit, but, unless you're deadset on this design, purchasing a fan only model will probably be cheaper.

Can this fan be ceiling mounted?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. Fan can be mounted with or without a down rod. Instructions are included for both mounting options.

If installed without light kit, Is there an end cover to put in place of the lights? Please include part#, thanks.

Asked by: Anonymous
I don't remember for sure because I had no need to do this, but I believe the cover plate is included in the event you choose this option.

By breaking all the tabs off (unless you want to tear up the drywall on your ceiling) making it unusable again.

Customer Reviews

Highbury 52 in. New Bronze Ceiling Fan is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 179.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase, expected much more from a Hunter The high speed moves air as the low speed of other ceiling fans, light buzz when turning on. Do not waste your money with this one. I regret to bought 5 of them. Average instalation. Looks nice. Quiet. But if the main purpose is to move air, this one is the worst ever seen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hunter Ceiling Fan Good quality product. This is the third 52 inch Hunter Highbury Fan install in my home. They changed the trim ring at the mount base from the other fans and its is less user friendly and will break if item needs to be removed after installed. Wiring instructions are poor as well. Decided not to use remote transmitter due to poor reviews for this item. Works as expected after install and provides good lighting and fan operation

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money After having the fan work flawlessly for one year and ten months, the smell of smoke appeared and the motor went out. First to go was low speed, then within 24 hours the high speed failed.....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stopped working . . . The fan worked great but it was the light kit that stopped working which in turn caused the fan to not work as well. On top of that Hunter no longer makes the light kit so we couldn't just switch it out. We have to buy a whole new fan. So when researching a new one, I saw others had similar experiences with this fan so needless to say we will not be purchasing this again for its replacement. It's a disappointment since we've never had a problem with Hunter fans before. The search continues . . .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Fan @ a Great Value!! The fan is extremely easy to install and looks great. The fan is silent even on high and the remote is handy. I currently have 5 of these fans in my house and 3 of them are wired with the remote and 2 without. The remote is not required but just a bonus. The customers having trouble with the fan not being on high when selecting high on the remote just need to reset it. You reset the fan by pushing 3 on the remote and continue to pull the chain on the fan until the fan is actually on high again. This malfunction happens when the power goes out or if you have it hooked up to switch that gets turned off while the fan is running. Overall this fan is great looking and silent when on. I still plan on buying at least 2 more of these fans for 2 other rooms.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good overall I had similar problems JPor4 had (the remote not working consistently, the lights not turning on, etc.), though since I self-installed, I was able to trouble-shoot & realized I had it wired incorrectly & that I didn't code the remotes & receivers properly (each remote-transponder&receiver pair should have the same code, but that one code they share needs to be different from each of the other transponder/receiver pairs in the house otherwise they will cross-communicate & mess things up). It specifically says this in the directions. So it's possible that JPor4 might've gotten a bad install, or it could be a bad fan. The other issues are unchangeable - no matter what you do, you won't be able to use your lightswitches or chains to control your fan once the remote receiver is installed, & the CFL bulbs won't ever dim since dimming technology for CFL bulbs is expensive, rare, and the result is mediocre at best. Hunter was smart not to allow dimming bulbs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Fan, Worthless Remote The fan itself is a great fan at an even better price, however the wireless remote is junk. I installed the fan with remote and after 10 days, the receiving unit for the remote already burned out. I took it back to HD, and they stated that they have had other failures like mine with the receiving unit. If you are looking for a great fan, buy this; however if you are looking for a great fan with a remote, steer clear.
