Customer Questions & Answers

How do you get the gauge to work?

I just bought this pump and have a Schrader valve on my bike tires. I put the pump on and it's adding air, but I don't know how much air I'm putting in since the gauge either stays at 20 or doesn't move from 0. Any help would be appreciated.
Asked by: Jane
The gauge on mine has about 10 psi of hysteresis, so my guess is the gauge is low quality. Try smacking the gauge to un-stick the needle? Otherwise, return it and get one that works.

Can I get a brass outlet valve for this pump?

I've used this pump twice. Now the plastic insert in the outlet is damaged enough so that it won't engage the valve stem. Also, the gauge is now stuck at 28psi but that is only annoying. Your buyer's need to take a bit more care when they select an item.

the plastic insert is a definite problem. can i get a replacement part?

What connector, if any is used to connect to a standard tire (small) valve? There are no instructions with this pump.

Is the black end with the flip lever used? How should it be attached? Any other attachment needed? Doesn't seem to connect correctly.
Asked by: 450096
Yes the flip lever is used as that is what squishes the seal around the valve stem (or Presta adapter). Mine (purchased at HD May/2015) came with a Presta adapter stored in the flip lever. Take the dust cap off the Presta valve, unscrew the little lock nut of the Presta valve and push in on the valve to make sure it isn't stuck. Now screw on the Presta adapter (large end with o-ring toward Presta valve) until snug. Attach pump hose and flip the lever down. Pump to the desired pressure, remove pump, snug down the little nut on the Presta valve and put on the dust cap.

First one was covered under Husky's 2-year warranty. I'm not wasting my time replacing it with the same again. Issue #1: After several uses the pump/cylinder starts to leak air and gets worse over time. Issue #2: The part that attaches to a tire valve is made of plastic inside which gets all mangled after just a few uses. If you need to air up tires keep looking, the only thing this pump might be useful for is airing up balls.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for -- failed after a couple dozen uses What attracted me to this pump was the fact that it looked durable, had a built-in pressure gauge, and cost about a third of what a basic quality floor pump typically costs in a bike shop. Well, upon first use I discovered that the gauge is useless - it indicates a pressure that's about 10-15 psi over the actual pressure. After a couple dozen uses over a few months, I noticed oil leaking from around the bottom of the base. Today the pump failed entirely -- the little plastic "tongue" in the pump head no longer pushes the tire valve stem piston down enough to open the valve enough to let air in -- so you push the pump handle down but no air gets into the tire.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Valve Fitting has failed I've had the pump for two years and it failed. The gauge has never been accurate, but more importantly, the valve fitting has failed so that it's inoperable. The fitting is made of plastic and each time it goes on and off a valve stem (it fits very snugly), the stem has a worn a groove. The groove is now large enough that it won't seal properly. Happy to buy another fitting if they sold them separately (they don't).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked as prommised Works great on all the families bikes and balls. I coach soccer so I take it to all the games... It fits in the bag and I don't need any power... We have a super active family and it's always ready to go.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional at a good price Works well, locks in to the stem, enough advantage when pumping without so much that you have to lean on it. A few drawbacks: The stem adapter in the clamp handle falls out easily. I've finally just stored it on the shelf so it doesn't roll away. The pressure gauge has about 10 psi of hysteresis, so you can't read the numbers straight off the dial. The base isn't quite wide enough to keep it from falling over. Still, plenty good for the price. I'd buy it again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed after a couple of uses As another commentator noted, the pump no longer presses down enough to engage the valve so you can't put air in the tire. It's inexpensive, but you might do better flushing the $ down the toilet. At least you don't have spend the energy throwing it out after trying to get it to work, over and over again.
