No, this switch has no voltage at all. For safety the system works using air instead electricity. When you push the button, the air trapped inside the tubing connected from the bottom of the button, to the bottom of the food disposer, travels inside the tubing and then pushes a small (water proof) diaphragm inside the bottom of the food dispenser. No, this switch has no voltage at all. For safety the system works using air instead electricity. When you push the button, the air trapped inside the tubing connected from the bottom of the button, to the bottom of the food disposer, travels inside the tubing and then pushes a small (water proof) diaphragm inside the bottom of the food dispenser. In fact the button, the base, the tubbing, the diaphragm and the base of the food dispenser, all are water proof for safety reasons. We all know, the water and the electricity together are very dangerous. Touching water and some electrical source can kill a person.
So this system becomes VERY SAFE using this kind of technology.

no, this switch works a power unit that is plugged into an outlet underneath the sink and is connected by an air hose.

I have had this switch installed for one year, but the threaded plastic part underneath it has broken. Does the switch include the plastic pieces that go below and up to the counter, or do I need to purchase that separately?

What diameter hole do you need to drill to mount the switch button in the counter top? What is the max and min counter top thickness that the switch button works with?
