Rated 3 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Drop and Gap I was hesitant to order this laminate as there were no previous reviews, and I should have followed my hunch. If you have a brand new house with straight walls and very level floors you might have a better experience laying this floor than we did. First of all I paid $55 extra in shipping to have the 24 cases shipped to my house, I ended up picking it up at a shipping dock 33 miles away from us because the shipping company could not "get in on the truck" in 3 days that I was spending at home waiting for delivery. So unless you have a LOT of time, do yourself a favor and save some money and aggravation an pick it up yourself at the store. The floor itself looks very nice BUT the assembly is far from as easy as it is shown in the multiple videos! Even when following all instructions to the T, with spacers laid, subfloor sanded and leveled, the 'drop and lock' did not lock in place without a gap of about 1 mm on the short end. That was after making sure that the long end is inserted first,at an angle, and then sliding the part towards the piece already installed, and even lifting that piece up at an angle - the gap would persist UNLESS we took a block and 'tapped' (hammered) the laminate toward the seam. Then we'd still have another seam open back up. Part of the reason is that when this laminate is pressed down onto the seam it is fiberboard rubbing against the fiberboard of the other piece,it would be easier if those were waxed or coated to decrease friction. Needless to say there were quite a few boards that did not take kindly to the tapping and the edges broke. As of this review the floor has only been down for a day, and it does look pretty once it is down, if you don't get onto your knees and look at some of the seams too closely. It seems to be pretty scratch resistant, but because of the seams/gaps I am afraid that the slightest bit of moisture on the floor (I would not want to put wet boots on it or have a dog bowl sitting on it) will get into the fiberboard and bust the pretty picture. If I had to do it again I think I would rather have a real wood floor! August 23, 2014
