I used it on a plywood under floor to kill pet odors before putting down new carpet. It worked very well, but I would read what it says on the can to see if it is meant to be used on concrete, I would think it would be stated on the can.

Answer:
You can not just apply over grease. You do have to do some cleaning first. I will seal it cleaned but not like a coating of it. I would go to oil primer as well, safer bet. You will still need to clean it at least with TSP.

Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question. Yes, Kilz Max is formulated to tackle tough stains including medium to heavy grease stains and more. Before application, please make sure surface is in proper condition and clean from the grease. If washing is necessary, use a non-soapy detergent or a TSP substitute. Rinse well and allow to dry.

Seriously consider NATURE’S MIRACLE® Scented Stain and Odor Removers. Instead of covering the odor it removes it entirely. I do not work for the company, but have used it for years. The stuff is a bit expensive and can be found in pet stores.

Answer:
Odor blocking primers can't and will never truly get rid of a smell unless the source of that odor is neutralized.
WIth that said, you can certainly try to prime ONLY after cleaning and disinfecting the areas affected by the pet stains.
Once that is done, apply the primer and see what happens.

Hi BobJax,
Thanks for your question. We don't recommend applying Kilz Max on top of wallpaper adhesive. If you're unable to remove the adhesive though, you may want to use an oil-based primer instead, like our Kilz Original, which can be viewed here: http://www.homedepot.com/p/KILZ-ORIGINAL-1-gal-White-Oil-Based-Interior-Primer-Sealer-and-Stain-Blocker-10901/100371321. I don't know any reason that it wouldn't work over the glue. I just applied it to old plywood flooring that had some small areas of carpet padding and glue from laying the previous padding and it worked just fine. Covered stains and odors extremely well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive. I bought a 50-year-old house and was working to restore a basement utility room that had been used as a kitchen by a past owner. It was bad - my daughter called it a "murder scene". The walls were plaster over cinder block with many coats of unknown type paints. After some cleaning and light sanding with 220 grit paper, I was going to use a shellac-based primer. No windows in this room and minimal ventilation, so I wasn't looking forward to it. Then I ran across this stuff. It went on easy and covered all of the stains, marks and splatters that were on the walls. In one coat. I don't give away five stars easily, but this stuff is worth it. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good coverage A little thick but easy to use. Good coverage. Would purchase again. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing primer I'm repainting all the trim in my house and I've used this primer prior to applying 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Advanced Satin paint. It goes on easily with a brush or HVLP sprayer. It dries to the touch in an hour and is sandable after 12 hours. It levels well and bonds very well. All surfaces were sanded and wiped clean of dust prior to painting. I've used many other primers for indoor painting jobs and this one is by far on the top of my list. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Used for dog urine on floorboards prior to carpeting After I tore up my old carpet, I discovered lots of dog urine stains on the floorboards. First, I scrubbed with hydrogen peroxide, several applications. Then I rolled on Kilz Max. The worst areas needed 3 coats, but 1 coat was sufficient for most of the areas. Kilz Max worked amazingly well. No urine smell, and the new carpet smells wonderfully! August 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This is not the sealer/stain-blocker you want We recently purchased a house where the previous owner had a misbehaving cat. The cat had managed to P in every corner of carpeted floor (thankfully only 3 rooms). This had gone on for so long that the subfloor was saturated. They somehow managed to get it dry enough that the odor wasn't obvious in any of our walkthroughs or inspection. Shortly after we purchased the home we had the carpets cleaned and when you add that water to dried up cat P ... POW it activates and smells worse than you can believe. We pulled up the carpet and padding to assess the damage and saw the subfloor was pretty bad in the corners of the rooms. I let the areas dry, sanded them, scrubbed the areas with a bleach & water mix, let it dry again and applied 3 coats of Kilz Max to each corner letting each coat dry before applying the next. This not only did not stop the smell, but the cat P began to leach through the less than max sealant leaving a discolored yellow stain in the white primer. If you think you should use something like this, please don't use anything water based. It's garbage and poorly marketed as being a stain/odor blocker. Go with an oil based product and you might have more luck. Us... we had the subfloor replaced. Thanks for nothing Kilz! August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product I bought this product to kill animal odor on an enclosed porch of a condo I recently purchased. This stuff works. After a week the smell is still gone. It was easy to apply and I am happy I tried it. July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Odor Control after animal damage Preparing a home for sale after owner allowed a pet to severely damage floors requiring removal of all carpeting and pads, with staining and odor into the plywood. The Kilz is greatly improving the condition although in places it is so damaged several coats are necessary. Without the Kilz the plywood base would have to be replaced. July 26, 2016
