Customer Questions & Answers

Can the Kohler K-R596N-VS faucet be mounted through a granite counter and is this the one that does not have a faceplate?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes the faucet can be installed on granite. You don't need the faceplate to mount the fixture. Just be sure that the surface of the granite is clean and there is a gasket between the fixture and granite. I have the same installation and haven't had any problems with the faucet or leakage since I installed it over two years ago.

Deckplate optional or required?

The specifications say that mounting is with deckplate; however, the picture shows no deckplate. Is deckplate mounting optional?
Asked by: Anonymous
It is optional. They supply it for people who need to cover extra holes. I installed without it.

Hello. My sink has 4 holes in it, so how do you install this and make sure all holes are covered?

I know NOTHING about plumbing... KOHLER Simplice Single Hole Pull-down Kitchen Faucet in Vibrant Stainless
Asked by: Anonymous
You can install this faucet but you will need the faceplate that will cover the hot and cold water holes. The fourth hole will require a plug to cover this. There are plugs for this purpose available at hardware stores or plumbing outlets.

Is this for left handed people or can you move the knob to the right side?

Asked by: Anonymous
You can put the knob (lever actually) anywhere around the faucet which is great. Before tightening everything up I saw you could swivel it around to anywhere you wanted so I ended up putting it in the middle, centered in the front of the faucet. I found this to be the best place because you can easily use either hand from any direction to use the lever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointing at best... We bought this online due to its good reviews and the fact it was a Kohler. It was shipped to out house. When we received it and opened the box it looked as though someone had carelessly thrown it in there. The entire faucet just seemed cheap. The big thing was the faucet head where it docks into the faucet did not stay in place. This is advertised as a having some feature that keeps it in place when not in use which wasn't the case. Very disappointed, returned and bought a Delta which I love.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only lasts about a year. Expected better from Kohler Very disappointing. Looks great out of the box, works great at first, especially the water pressure on spray mode, and pull down retraction. After about a year, handle was loose then fell off. Had to keep reattaching and tightening every few days. Soap dispenser also stopped working around the same time. Has severely damaged my perception of the Kohler brand and am unlikely to ever buy Kohler again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not bad except for the stop-flow button This is the faucet that the developer of my townhouse complex chose to install in all the kitchens. Over the last year, I experienced a steady loss of water pressure and couldn't figure out why. On my final walk-through, I mentioned it to the developer's repair man and he knew right away what the problem was. Over time, the stop-flow button becomes increasingly stuck, allowing less and less water through. It happened in so many of the other units that he instantly knew what the problem was. You have to peel the round button off and use needle nose pliers to pull the plunger (?) out. In the process, the button itself was damaged. Save yourself the trouble and buy a better quality unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great faucet We looked at many faucets and settled on this one. There were only a few that were black so we went with a trusted name. The style was a bit modern for us but after installing it, it looks great. As for function- that also is great! The nozzle pulls out and retracts easily. It also has good pressure on the optional setting! Did I say it's great?

The sprayer is easy to use and is very handy. The size of the faucet is perfect. My only criticism might be that the hose is short, however, I have not had need for it to be any longer than it is. It has served all of my purposes and can reach anything in my double sink.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It looks nice but the water in normal stream mode... It looks nice but the water in normal stream mode kind of spritzes all over. Called Kohler and they think it's defective; they're sending me a new sprayer head. Hopefully the next one is better. 360 degrees swivel is unnecessary. Even with a deep sink, faucet height causes lots of splatter.
