Customer Questions & Answers

Can the Kohler K-R596N-VS faucet be mounted through a granite counter and is this the one that does not have a faceplate?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes the faucet can be installed on granite. You don't need the faceplate to mount the fixture. Just be sure that the surface of the granite is clean and there is a gasket between the fixture and granite. I have the same installation and haven't had any problems with the faucet or leakage since I installed it over two years ago.

Deckplate optional or required?

The specifications say that mounting is with deckplate; however, the picture shows no deckplate. Is deckplate mounting optional?
Asked by: Anonymous
It is optional. They supply it for people who need to cover extra holes. I installed without it.

Hello. My sink has 4 holes in it, so how do you install this and make sure all holes are covered?

I know NOTHING about plumbing... KOHLER Simplice Single Hole Pull-down Kitchen Faucet in Vibrant Stainless
Asked by: Anonymous
You can install this faucet but you will need the faceplate that will cover the hot and cold water holes. The fourth hole will require a plug to cover this. There are plugs for this purpose available at hardware stores or plumbing outlets.

Is this for left handed people or can you move the knob to the right side?

Asked by: Anonymous
You can put the knob (lever actually) anywhere around the faucet which is great. Before tightening everything up I saw you could swivel it around to anywhere you wanted so I ended up putting it in the middle, centered in the front of the faucet. I found this to be the best place because you can easily use either hand from any direction to use the lever.

I appreciated the overall "look" of this product but am disappointed with the functionality. We had it professionally installed so I felt very comfortable with installation. The 'supposed' three types of spray are not working correctly. The only spray I can really get to work is the sweep spray. Also the handle is very small for the size of the faucet which I didn't realize from the pictures. It looks disproportionate in person. I would not recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good, and powerful! Pros: loving the "water blade" (which isn't as much of a sweep spray... see below), the reach of the detachable sprayer, the "pause" button, looks great. Nice and tall so baby can take a bath in our sink and not bonk her head on the faucet. Cons: 1. we have a thicker backsplash and the handle can't actually go all the way back because it's stopped by the backsplash... so take that width into consideration! We offset it slightly by turning the whole facet slightly to the side so we can get the handle's full range of motion. 2. I thought that sweepspray only happened when you held the nozzle at an angle, thus creating the "water blade", per the impressive and informative video...? Yeah it's just like that all the time. Ok that's cool, but due to the handle's limited range of motion (in general, not due to the aforementioned thick backsplash), it goes from 0 to 60 INSTANTLY in regards to the water pressure with the slightest touch, which brings me to... 3. I just rinsed off a pan, plates, and utensils from dinner and MAN are they clean and QUICKLY too! And I'm SOAKED. The nozzle is powerful and tall - so that sprayer will mist/splash back all over you, the counters, and the floor. Easy does it on that handle!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice upgrade after living with cheap junk for decades. There are a lot of versions of this faucet. I purchased the chrome one because it was the cheapest. It's solid brass and should last a long time. It's easy to install and the hardest part is getting everything through the one hole in the sink. Handle placement can be any way you want. Even in the front over the sink because this thing swivels like figure skater. The broom spray is more useful than I ever though. It makes a huge difference compared to the usual spray handle that I will never go back to. I have a well, so pressure is low. If you have a good pump with higher pressure than you will love this thing. Nice and high and easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tall "arch" on faucet means lots of space for washing pots! Had a plumber install, and went easy enough. LOVE the size and shape of this faucet. I have had friends warn me to get one with a high arch, as lower arches can make it hard to wash large pots/pans. This one is fabulous. I'm a lefty, and its easy to reach "under the faucet" to turn on the water while holding a pan. The multi-spray options are great. We've had it installed about a month now, and after spending about 3 weeks researching faucets and "visiting faucets in person" I am so glad we landed on this one. It a very heavy weight, so feels sturdy, but so easy to just pull the cord and have it spray the whole sink. Love it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not bad except for the stop-flow button This is the faucet that the developer of my townhouse complex chose to install in all the kitchens. Over the last year, I experienced a steady loss of water pressure and couldn't figure out why. On my final walk-through, I mentioned it to the developer's repair man and he knew right away what the problem was. Over time, the stop-flow button becomes increasingly stuck, allowing less and less water through. It happened in so many of the other units that he instantly knew what the problem was. You have to peel the round button off and use needle nose pliers to pull the plunger (?) out. In the process, the button itself was damaged. Save yourself the trouble and buy a better quality unit.

Having this faucet for a month now, it makes my daily dish washing task easier! It is easier to get pots under the faucet, I can aim the sprayer right where I need it, and I can lower the sprayer to the level I want. The faucet handle works VERY nice. The quality is definitely five star! Simply put, it is great!
