How do you determine where the alarm originated with multiple wireless devices installed?

You have the ability to have multiple devices all interconnected. When an alarm is sounds, how do you determine where the alarm originated or which device you should go to first?. Example: It could be in your garage, but you go to the basement, you could then be going from place to place to determine what has to be done, and could be too late.
Asked by: Nobby
The red light blinks on the originating one.

Can these units be powered with Lithium AA batteries?

Asked by: Ronnie
Yes. As long as the batteries are the same voltage (1.5v) as regular AA batteries. They should last longer.

I think the actual product is OK but the way the product is listed is deceptive. This product does not work to interconnect the units together unless you also buy the $54 dollar AC unit. This is not obvious and it was not obvious which unit I needed to buy to make them interconnected even after going to the Kiddie website.

I bought these because I needed a wireless, interconnected, non hard wired smoke detectors system to replace the out of date original system. I placed 8 of these in a Church rectory with 4 resident apartments and the main offices, (some of the apartments detached with a courtyard between), and was not sure they would actually work with the cinder block construction. I am pleasantly surprised that when tested from the furthest apartment they all responded flawlessly. I gave a 4 star only because they are new and so durability and battery consumption is unknown right now.

Easy to install, installed two in the house and one in the outer building, both buildings are block buildings and the distance is 30 feet away and the smoke alarms still signaled the others smoke alarms during test which is quite surprising. they have passed my expectations, wireless connectable alarms are now the only way to go. attached is a picture of the distance between both buildings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Welcome to a new era. I have been a career fire fighter for 26 years. I might sound like a broken record here but tough. Your going to hear it again. Early detection of fire is essential to recognize the danger and escape quickly. You have to spend the extra $ to have one of these mounted in each child's room. If you have current detectors that are in a common hallway, test them a couple hour after the kids go to bed. Some might be amazed to see their kids don't wake up. These new detectors are so obnoxiously loud, kids will be much less likely to sleep through an alarm. The detectors were a snap to install. Be sure to follow the directions when setting the program code. Which by the way is easy. Just flip the little toggles so they are all the same, put in batteries and you are set. When these alarm, they will stagger for a few moments until they all sync. No big deal, like I said these are incredibly loud. I bought nine of these and am thrilled with the investment I made for our family. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars for quality because the instal tabs are thin and that was the part that was damaged on mine.

Given the changes in building codes, it surprises me these items are not more available or stocked as opposed to special order. This type of smoke alarm offers added safety of early warning in the event of a fire in a more isolated part of our home. If for example an event occurrs in a basement room, which activates a smoke alarm, all smoke alarms are activated providing additional time to escape. Our home does not have a dedicated electrical circuit for smoke alarms, rather all of them are battery operated and these smoke detectors "speak to each other" wirelessly, even if there is no internet service.

So far i haven't had to reset the code because of interference with anything else. My microwaved popcorn did set it off and it did turn the others on. they tell you not to put so close to the kitchen but i will just move it next movie night i wish all households had this type. as a person that sleeps with the door shut, a fan blowing to block out noise, a fire WOULD have to have been way out of control before i'd woke up. Now, if a fire starts on the other end of the house i'll have a better chance to get myself and pets out even during a power outage. will get extras to go into the porch area.
