Customer Questions & Answers

Do i have to take it down on snowy winter in New York City?

Is it strong enough?
Asked by: pallin888
Enough snow would cause the top to cave in. I have seen some left up all winter but never saw one with snow on it still up.

How are these Fastened to the ground?

We are worried that wind would blow this canopy away, how is it fastened to the ground or asphalt?
Asked by: Nick
The sell an anchor kit. Buy it! Take time to install the anchors properly. I also used the spikes that came with the kit with 4 inexpensive come-alongs at the 4 corners. I live on the west coast of Florida where winds can get a little crazy. Iv'e had no issues.

Can the roof hold a certain amount of weight

Asked by: Brodyn
I had 3 inches of wet snow on mine. I would not recommend counting on this. Mine was also up with tie wraps and not the bungee balls it comes with.

is the frame strong enough to add horse panel wire fencing to the sides and top?

I am lookong for a ready made frame to add thick wire fencing to make a parrot aviary. The panels are 6 guage 2x4 inch rectangles and very heavy.
Asked by: Parrots
There is no way to weigh the panels. They are 6 Guage 2x4 inch rectangles, and they measure 5ftx15ft. Very heavy. The solid roof carports are strong enough to hold the weight, but I'm not sure how the support posts compare on the soft top model.

Hercules 18 ft. W x 20 ft. D Steel Frame Canopy is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much more durable product than I thought Purchased 4 for my business. Very durable and tough product. Tarp is not cheaply made and holds down well. I was expecting the infrastructure to be cheap, but I was impressed on the thickness of the supporting pipes. My biggest plus on this Canopy is the size. It fits 2 cars side by side with ease. Not many canopies out there will do that. Do yourself a favor; don't go cheap on your next canopy. Buy the Hercules. Well worth the money.

Came in 2 large boxes that held fairly well considering how far they traveled. Simple well written instructions enabled my wife & I assemble it in about an hour with no tools needed. Perfect for our need of a cover to split firewood under & tall enough to park our tractor under when all the wood is split. I would suggest the anchor kit if you live in a windy area.

This canopy is truly heavy duty - the pipe used is all 2" which is pretty hefty however everything is just slid together - no way to secure the pieces which is a little maddening when putting together one end and the other keeps slipping apart. I've had this canopy for two weeks and it has held up to rain and light wind. Unfortunately we had gusts up to 25mph the other night and the canopy couldn't stay grounded in that. Nothing like feeling like Dorothy in Kansas in the middle of the night trying to hold a huge canopy to the ground. Suffice to say it didn't make it and I am left with a canopy in perfect condition and a stack of bent or broken pipes. If you don't have wind (we usually don't) I'm sure this would last quite some time.

The day after I put it up we had 3 straight days of 30-40 mph winds. This did just fine with the anchor kit. No rips at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stakes not included Very easy to install (2 hours entirely by myself), decent quality and great value for the $$. One small problem - they don't tell you when you purchase it, but it requires stakes to hold it down in strong winds and the stakes are not included, so order them when you order the canopy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Canopy We are using this canopy as a temporary car port for two of our vehicles (a mini van and a sedan, which fit nicely). It went together well with three people. Since this is going to be a long standing "temporary" shelter, we bolted the frame together. I would recommend bolting it together if you plan to use it as we are, due to the frame comes in multiple pieces. It has lasted through multiple summer storms without an issue. We will see how it survives a PA winter soon. I would recommend this canopy, cover is well made and durable and frame fits well together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Up in the air on this canopy Over all im happy with it. I think a canopy this big should have a bolt kit to make it stronger specially in winds. The instructions could have been better on which way the canopy went on. Mymain concern is the canopy it has been up only 1 week now and looks frayed in alot of spots. I have other brand smaller canopies that have been up for years and are not frayed at all. I would think for what this cost it would last at least as long as my others but I have my doubts about that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Canopy I have been using this canopy for several years. I leave it up from April to October in a campsite. Only took it down for Hurrricane Sandy. I only gave it 4 stars because water will sometimes puddle up at the cross poles.
