Customer Questions & Answers

Has anyone washed their "dry clean only" clothing in this, if so what option?

95% of my wardrobe IS "dry clean only" and I believe some of them could be washed very gently with this machine....Im just tired of always going to the cleaners....
Asked by: mixedsugar82
Hi mixedsugar82, You really have to pay careful attention to the label on the garment before you attempt to wash certain clothes at home. The conventional wisdom is that if it is a "Dry Clean Only" label you're better off taking it to the Dry Cleaners. They use chemicals and pre-treatments to protect the fabric and to remove stains. If the label is "Dry Clean" it means that dry cleaning is the preferred method, but not the only method. If you're intent on washing at home, you'll want to check the label first, use cold water to avoid bleeding and shrinkage, use a delicate cycle (hand washing is preferable) and a mild, gentle detergent. Avoid using the dryer as the heat may destroy the lining. Steam is a good way to get wrinkles out. Companies put "Dry Clean Only" tags in most garments because they have different types of material in that garment that will react differently to washing, so to avoid returns and for the safety of the garment, they tag it as "Dry Clean Only" Some garments may get so wrinkled from washing that ironing becomes almost impossible, so those are all things you need to consider before committing to washing your own garments!...IFV

Asked by: raheen
l don't have this specific washer at the time but I do have a front loading machine and it also had this odor. One of the girls I work with said if you just leave the door slightly ajar after use it will stop this. I did and it works. I haven't had any further problems.

how is the rating of this particular product?

Asked by: dipti
Its Energy Star Rating: 2013 ENERGY STAR MOST EFFICIENT Modified Energy Factor (MEF): 3.20 Water Factor (WF): 3.0 CEE Tier: 3 • MEF=Modified Energy Factor, a combination of Energy Factor and Remaining Moisture Content. MEF measures energy consumption of the total laundry cycle (washing and drying). It indicates how many cubic feet of laundry can be washed and dried with one kWh of electricity; the higher the number, the greater the efficiency. • WF=Water Factor (number of gallons needed for each cubic foot of laundry). A lower number indicates lower consumption and more efficient use of water. • Tier=the tiers are structured so the most efficient products are listed in the higher tiers. For example, Tier 3 would contain the most efficient models.

Will this model fit on the pedestal of an old model such as WM2277HS?

Asked by: washer
We appreciate your interest in the WM3250HRA and it is interesting to note that the now discontinued WM2277HS washer you mentioned used a pedestal whose model number is WDP4V and that pedestal was available in either a graphite steel or wild cherry red finish, but of more importance to you, both that pedestal and the current pedestal for the WM3250HRA, the WDP4R have exactly the same dimensions (W) 27" (H) 13 2/5" (D)28 2/5". Assuming that the feet of the WM3250HRA are exactly the same distance apart as on the WM2277HS, the pedestal for the older model should fit on the new model. Looking at images of both pedestals and noting that the slots for the feet on both pedestals are set on the corners of the pedestal, I would say that the pedestal definitely will fit! IFV

I was planning on buying this washer but the Proposition 65 Warning concerns me.

I would like to get some more detailed information about this (I don't need to know more about the Prop 65 warning itself, I know enough about that). For example I need to know if any of the chemicals or substances that prompted the warning will be in contact with my clothes or my skin (i.e on buttons or inside the washer) to be able to determine if this is an item I still want to buy.

The description states only one rinse temperature. is it cold water?

Asked by: AnaKerner
Hello AnaKerner, Thank you for your question. We greatly appreciate it. The LG Electronics 4.0 DOE cubic foot High-Efficiency Front Load washer with Steam, Model # WM3250HWA does only have one rinse temperature, and that is with cold water. All machines typically only rinse with cold water. As you probably have noticed, even after you do a how water wash, when the cycle ends and you're taking your clothes out, they are always cold!...IFV

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best washer ever! My husband and I purchased this washer after our previous washer died. Both are front loaders, so its really easy to compare the two. Our old washer was loud, this is not. Our old washer didn't have all the settings that the new one has (alergene, steam, sanitary). We both have really bad allergies, so the alergene setting is wonderful for sheets and towels. My husband works at the hospital, so the sanitary setting is a very nice feature. I feel like the clothes are coming out cleaner (or at least they smell fresher), they don't take as long to dry. We researched product reviews online (on multiple sites) before purchasing this washer. Yes, it cost a little more than I wanted to pay, but it was totally worth it. I'm so happy with this washer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Going back to a front loader. Very recently we purchased the new top loader he Lg machine. What a joke. I am unable to return it so I took our loss and purchased this unit. We had previously owned a front loader Lg unit for five years and sold it to replace with a new unit. This unit I just purchased is close to our older trom model. It cleans our clothes well, it is energy efficient, and has a lot of features. Now that being said-here are a few new owner tips from a veteran Lg front loader unit owner I wish I had known when I first purchased my first front loader. This should apply to any brand! 1. The shaking is from the unit not being leveled properly. The manual says to level all sides completely. Wrong! Level the unit completely first, then raise the front legs up until the clothes move off the door slightly. Lock the legs. This will end your headaches. A seasoned Lg tech shared this solution that works. He advised me that he had seen it all and heard every trick to solve these issues by sales associates and inexperienced techs in the industry. For five years I never had my unit walk off or unbalance. Worked flawlessly! 2. The floor must be solid-either concrete or put a thick board screwed down under the unit on a subfloor . Do not try remedies such as pads and rubber mats refer back to #1. Pedestals do not work well with these type machines-save your money. 3. The door has a feature to vent the drum. This is a fix to the old mildew problems. Use it. Wipe the seal occasionally to keep it clean as it collects dirt like any other unit does. Common sense here! 4. Like any unit, if the unit is unbalanced stop it immediately and remedy it. this applies to any type of unit. Leaving any unit washing unattended is asking for trouble. 5. If you are new to an HE unit you need to understand these are different types of units compared to traditional technology. They are designed to run longer, use less water and spin at higher speeds- this is the design. If you do not like change then you will not adapt to this technology. 6. With any washer-if you are into construction or auto mechanic type work- go to a laundry mat with those clothes if you expect perfection. My wife wouldn't want me to wash those in her machine anyways. Or stick to the old agitator types. These do not agitate your clothes to oblivion to clean them like mom's old unit did. They tumble them and are more gentle on clothes. 7. Most people return these units due to lack of understanding the operation of these units and how to install them properly. Make the effort if you buy one to get it functioning properly and understand your washer. If your on the fence stay away. 8. If you are the too picky type-you will only frustrate yourself using an he washer. If you are old school stay with the older technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laundry Zen Our dryer motor burnt out after 12 years so we decided to purchase two new units. After extensive research, I was slightly hesitant to go with the front load mechanism. Agitator washers clean clothes better than any other. After all, that is the primary goal. But, other factors such as energy efficiency, cycle time, lifespan, and style convinced me to take the risk. Boy have I been surprised! Everything from muddy towels to sleeping bags to dainty dedicates comes out fresh and clean. I have only one con. The high speed spin vibrations resonate through the unit and can make noise. I am looking into vibration damping foot pads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine and Great Delivery Service We researched washers and dryers thoroughly before buying, deciding that LG has the best combination of quality, features and cost. We decided against HE top-loaders because they are basically front loaders turned 90 degrees. HE washers use very little water, so front loaders are the best of the lot as the clothes get cleaner because they are agitated by dropping vs. direction reversals in top loaders that accomplish little effective agitation. Both HE top loaders and front loader use basket-in- tub construction with bearings pressed into the outer tub to support the rotating inner basket. LG models differ from most others in that they have a direct-drive motor with no pulleys or belts. The failure mode for most of these HE machines is bearing seal failure that allows water to get to the bearings. LG has fewer such failures than others. Whirlpool Duet machines have significant problems with early bearing failures. This machine is very quiet, cleans well and has fairly short cycle times compared to some others. It vibrates less than our previously owned Kenmore/Frigidaire front loader, yet spins at up to 1200 rpm. I has a pleasant end of cycle chime. The basket is huge, making up somewhat for relatively long cycle times compared to our old Kenmore/Frigidaire front loader. Incidentally, this is our third HE front loader unit, our Kenmores failing at 4.5 years and 8.5 years, both by main tub bearing failures. We hope to get five years of life out of this machine as no HE machine can last like our old top-loading Maytag that lasted 25 years with only a drvie belt and belt tensioning spring replacements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO QUIET! Highly Recommend! At 1st we were intimidated by all the features. So many options and bells/whistles. Keep the book close by and you'll be fine. My wife loves both the washer and dryer. It calculates the load for you (by weight/volume) and no guess as to how long to set! The clothes are amazingly cleaner than they were with my GE set I retired. Whites are white, towels smell fresh. Did I mention how quiet they are? OMG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Outstanding Front Loading Washer - Whisper Quiet! The LG 3.6 cu. ft. front loading steam washing machine is fast, quiet, efficient, and looks like an airplane cockpit with the different LEDs, lights, sounds and other controls. It is sharp looking with the chrome/mirrored front door. This machine out performs our previous front loading washer in many ways. Weighing in at 200lbs., the machine is worth its weight as some other machines weigh can weigh 200+ to 300 lbs. or over. The machine has features that our previous front did not have which contributes to the LG's "ease of use". Overall, this machine ranks above any in its Class and I would recommend it to anyone who needs to replace or purchase a 'first-time' economical and energy efficient front loading washing machine.
