Answer:
The fan is relatively quiet, it's not a high volume air mover. You can easily use the heater in the same area, while watching a TV program without issues with sound.

Granted, the heater can draw up to about 13 amps (1500 watts) went heating at full power, and therefore one should not use a light weight extension cord with it, nor should one attempt to run other appliances from the same circuit to prevent over loading...
Normally the heater would be cycling the heating element on and off, and depending on the duty cycle, the current being drawn would vary, and therefore the heating effect on the power cord would cycle too. The heater I have has a 16AWG cord, which according to the standard wire table, is rated for 6 amps... That being said, the cord could carry a far higher currents for short periods of time without damage, but that again depends on the duty cycle of the load current.... I have and used two of these heaters for sometime now, and I haven't had any problems with them. However, if in using any appliance, if you notice an possible safety issue, you should stop using it and report it to the dealer.... BC Read Less

Answer:
The heated air comes out through the front grill. When it's operating, the grill area gets warm. I haven't measured the temp of this area, but as I remember, you would not want to keep your hand on it when it is operating. I don't think it would burn the skin, but again, I don't think anyone would hold their hand on it for a extended period of time when running on high...

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 361 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great little heater the heater is the best value we found among other heaters.it works well and heats our nursery all night long. it turns off when it reaches 2 degrees above the desired temperature and is quiet. Very easy to use right out of the box. Temp indicator seems accurate. Would be 5 stars and top quality if I could silence the beeps when adjusting the functions and if it turned off at the temp or 1 degree above setting. Lets temp range flux a little, and with a baby its not ideal, but not a big problem February 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Replacement This heater replaces another one of Lasko's ceramic heaters that we used successfully for over 15 years. Very pleased with this product so far, (although I had to call to get the remote which was left out of the box). I love Lasso fans too. I have one that's well over 15 years old and still runs fine. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by For the Birds The Lasko heater is exactly what we needed for our birds. The temperature is spot-on with a wall thermometer in the room. I can keep the temperature within a 5 degree range. Perfect to keep my featured pets healthy and happy! December 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heater Great heater. Works well for our usage. Would buy another. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised Great effective room heater. Very quite and handy remote May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reliable space heater This is our second Lasko space heater. The first one finally quit after years of use. We were surprised to find the exact same unit as the one we had owned thinking the model would either be discontinued or redesigned. That the design is essentially unchanged over the years may be an indication of "if it works dont fix it". You dont see that very much anymore. If you want a unit that does what it is supposed to do in heating your room and running quietly, this would be a good choice. You'll have to clean the dust out of it each season to ensure good performance. April 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good purchase and price was great I am pleased with the product and purchased one for my daughter' home. it will help reduce the cost of our heating bills and plan to purchase the 30 inch Lasko for next winter. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent, durable heater, very quick delivery, great value- highest recommendation easy to order, shipped quickly; excellent value- i highly recommend April 26, 2016
