Customer Questions & Answers

Had this installed today. When sensor is activated, light blinks. How come?

Asked by: Anonymous
Turn the lights upside down. The lights seem to interact with the sensor and make it blink. I saw a review on line that told me to turn the lights upside down so the deflectors protected the sensor and that did the trick. also point the sensor completely down to the ground. Let me know if it works.

Can you override (ie turn off or on) with a switch.

I want to be able to turn this off or turn it on so that it stays on when I need continuing light. Can you do that with a switch?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, If you hook it up the wiring that are connected to switches, I think you flip the swtch off/on fast and it will stay on as directed...then if you want to turn it back to sensor mode you turn it off for 5 seconds and flip it back on and that will reset to sensor mode.

In Time mode, how long does the Lithonia Twin-Head LED security light stay on when triggered by motion? I realize this time is not adjustable.

Asked by: Anonymous
The "on time" is adjustable up to 10 minutes.

Why only for recessed junction box?

Asked by: Anonymous
I found this description to be false - it works perfectly on a 4 inch externally mounted junction box.

I had to order the light online, which I thought would be fine, since I order a lot of items from Amazon. When it arrived, it was in regular packaging, like you purchased it of off the shelf at the store. It was not covered up with anything or in anything disguising the contents of the item being shipped. It was also taped in several different directions and the cardboard was damaged, which I assumed wasn't a good sign. Like this was repackaged. I hooked it up correctly, making sure the leads were properly connected and then the light started blinked like it was an alarm. I tried researching the possible issue, and according to the web, it was an incorrect connection. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the light several times and it still blinked in a flashing mode. Needless to say, I will be returning this light. It was not a good purchase and most of the reviews were decent. This is not fun.

Now the sensor still works as it flashes, but the light does not come on anymore. Even putting it into manual On mode, the light does not come on. Why is it so hard to make a security light that lasts long? I can't install this myself because it is up so high.

Yes, they move in two planes, but they run into the sensor housing too easily. I did finally find acceptable positions. The bigger problem is the lag time from sense to ON. You can hear the Click and see the sensor flash, but it takes seconds to come on. I've not actually timed it, but it has to be 2-3 seconds. By that time you are up to or past the light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LED lights failed after 4 months Had this LED motion detector light professionally installed, but LEDs stopped working after 4 months. Therefore, can only give it a 4 rating for quality. I had registered the product, and the manufacturer promply shipped another one. Based on that, I can still recommend the product. This light is a lot more expensive than similar LED security lights, so I was dissapointed in it's performance. We'll see if my expericence was a fluke or not. Other Notes: 1. Home Depot slapped a shipping label on the package box, and shipped it. The Manufacturer shipped it in bubble wrap. Don't know if this made a difference, or not. 2. This light is available online only. That means you should register your warranty in case you need to get a replacement, like I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality and Good Features We recently installed a new roof and siding and wanted to add security lighting over the garage that went well with the siding and provided full lighting cover over the driveway. This product looked well with the siding and has great coverage over the driveway and side entrance to the house. The features and span of coverage was exactly what we were looking for. The workmanship and quality is well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective AND Bright! This light is not only energy efficient and cost-effective but it was a breeze to install and setup. I am hardly a handyman but had no problems. BIG TIP: If you manually switch the light off (i.e., via the wall switch) for more than 3 seconds and then switch it back on, it puts it in "override" mode and the light will come on at night and stay on. Simply switching it off again for 3 seconds and turning it back on will put it back in "motion detect" mode. (If you read the instructions fully, it tells you this but I missed it.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light, know how to position it so it doesn/t flash Just bought and installed this light today. The screws were a little too short for the vinyl siding so went to the hardware store to get longer. Difficult to find so cut away the vinyl siding to make the screws fit and, with a little caulk, everythig looks beautiful--a great improvement over the sodium vapor light that went bad. However, I would have been very confused by the strobe flashing tonight if I had not read the warnings about this effect. You MUST direct the lights away from the sensor and point the sensor toward the ground, otherwise the lights continue to flash. Couldn't find a switch or any other way to stop them other than changing the direction. Thank you to all who wrote about the strobe.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 1 Year motion diffuser cover deteriorated These worked very well for 1 year. Then the motion covers deteriorated away on 3/4 of the floods I have, exposing the motion sensors to the weather. Now they wont shut off or work. Called the actual manufacturer and they said they do not sell any parts for these. Big waste of $250 and time to put these up and replace them.
