I ordered this on line and , I mounted it using the mounting arm. on a 25 ft high light pole. This was a replacement light that had been there for 20 years. I mounted and wired the light went down turned it on .(IT DIDN'T WORK ) I returned it to a local store and got another one . Mounted it .( DID NOT WORK EITHER) I checked and rechecked the electric wires and circuits. No problem there. I went back to the local store and returned this one . But I purchased another model this time went home tested on the ground first then put it on the pole 25 ft up and this one worked. I don't know what the problem was but it may be a bad line of lights . Since it was a fluorescent light I could not test it with a meter. I think I must have been a fool for not testing these on the ground, because at 25 ft in the air on a ladder is not a place to be trouble shooting a problem, so in 25 years I will remember this if I'm still alive

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by TURBODIESEL works ok, TEST IT ON THE GROUND BEFORE MOUNTING!!!
TEST IT BEFORE U EVEN THINK ABT PUTTING IT UP ON WHATEVER U ARE GOING TO PUT IT UP ON, I learned that the hard way... several times. some of them are... non functioning out of the box. I think the sensor "eye" doesn't work right? and/or it gets glaucoma QUICKLY after a while staring at the sun so the sensor goes bad and (mine) stayed on 24 hrs a day in NO TIME (I put timer on them anyway so they go off before dawn anyway).
the ones I have bought (several) seem to last 2 yrs TOPS before something happens to the thing, it isn't the bulb, the bulb is fine; the fixture/circuitry/sensor "eye" goes bad and it wont light up (or stays on all the time) so... it is no good and has to come down. not too big of an issue if it is 6'-8' off the ground, but if it is up HIGH in the air... it is a CHORE to have to replace something like that that high up in the air.
oh, the shroud thing that protects the bulb DOES NOT LIKE WIND, the SMALL mounting screws that hold it on are ...too small, need BIG washers under them, but the THIN TIN that the "skirt" for the bulb is made of is about as thin as an aluminum can. the screws that hold it on are so ITTY BITTY the wind tears the "lens/skirt" thing off and then it hangs on the bulb... eventually loosening the bulb and it all comes down. they needed to make the lens/skirt/bell thing, that protects the bulb, out of thicker material so the SMALL screws that mount it don't pull through when the wind blows. it is..."inexpensive" and that is attractive, BUT.... really NOT a quality product... in my opinion. it works (mostly) but I expect ~2 yrs out of them and they are on timers so are on ~8hrs nite, not dusk to dawn. the little "eye" does not seem to like the desert SUN staring at it for very long and leaves the lite on all the time.

Replacing the older less efficient fixture with a new one was only a few dollars more than replacing the bulb in the old fixture. The new fixture is brighter, rated far more energy efficient and only took about 20 minutes to install.

My husband put up this light for security and it is amazing.I love having my yard all lit up and being able to see what is lurking out there where before it was to dark to see anything. They say that lights deter burglars. I hope this is true.I feel safer just knowing this.It illuminates my warning sign as you can see in my photo.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ray Gave it a 2nd try... thumbs down.
I bought this model the first time and I padded myself in the back . Then after about 2 years it went out. So because of the price I figured it is better to replace the whole thing. No problem right ... until the 2nd one went out in less than a year. So that's it. I am done with this model. I am seeking another style. I hope that helps. Here is what you get. It is east to install and cheap price...but it goes bad ..the sensors go bad.

This vapor light is ok however the vapor light I replace after having 30 plus years was 10 times better. It's not Home Depot's fault it's the fact things are made much cheaper.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KurtLNaples Very economical lighting for large area
Light is easy to install and provides white light to the surrounding area. Much better lighting during evening hours than high pressure sodium lighting. This light is rated at 4,100K. which is nice. I have installed many of these over the past few years and will continue to add more as lighting needs increase. Easy install, very reasonable price, what is not to like about that? Please use an electrician if you are not comfortable with heights, electrical wiring or have concerns about knowing the code.
