Bought this and other MOEN Model # 96497.
This one has metal cased plastic drain inlet, which is value for price. But we decided to install the other MOEN Model # 96497.
because both are same design differ by material, make no difference to installation.
Hint : unlike drain assembly for sink without overflow drain hole, pay attention to thread sealing at the drain inlet. The included rubber washer will not stop leak, unless we apply paste-sealant or tape-sealant during installation.
Hope this helps,

I've probably put in 15 faucets sets over the years in 4 houses. This drain assembly came with 4 Moen faucets we purchased for a vacation home we were improving. 3 out of the 4 leaked at the start. It's made of plastic so the threads warp as you screw the nut to tighten the gasket. I could just manage to use enough teflon to stop them when I installed them but eventually after about a year they all started to drip. One let loose completely and because the faucet was leaking, made quite a mess by the time we returned a couple of months later.
I replaced them all with bronze models and no more problems. Spend the extra bucks so you don't have to worry

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mullet Just what I needed when universal stoppers didn't work
After all universal stoppers didn't fit my bathroom drains, I ordered the entire assemblies online for the same price. Home Depot shipped to my local store for free, and since the product was already paid for, all I had to do was show up with my ID and I was in and out in under 5 minutes. Although this product did not come with instructions and I had no prior plumbing experience, I installed three of these without any issues at all. All I needed was a wrench and some plumbers putty. Just be sure not to toss out any of the parts (such as the o-rings) before checking for leaks, because you will use all of them.

Needed to replace a broken pivot rod and the whole assembly was cheaper than just the rod kit.

The most annoying thing that I have found about a pop-up drain is when the plastic washer next to the ball on the pop-up rod breaks, causing the sink to leak. Unfortunately, no one seems to sell these inexpensive pieces of plastic, which probably cost a penny to produce, individually. There is replacement kit available including the rod and ball, but it isn't certain that it will work with all assemblies. In most cases you are forced to replace the entire assembly, when all you need a two cent washer.
I bought this assembly just to replace the ball-rod and washer on my Moen sink, which is brass, and it worked perfectly. While it still cost more than it should have, I was able to fix the sink for less than 7 dollars, while replacing the whole assembly in brass would have cost $25-30.
