This is a lightweight sander that I originally bought for a tight spot between two columns. It works great, belts are easy to change and I have used it on many other projects.

Does well. Specially in tight spaces. Better than hand sanding.

Excellent control and maneuverability in tight spaces. The range of variable speed is impressive. Got this for working in door jambs and around fixtures in an old renovation where layer upon layer of paint has accumulated over the years. Makes quick work of it, minimizing exposure time (I have no doubt lower layers were lead-based paints). The lower speeds allow you to work more deliberately at material removal without violently throwing dust everywhere. It has a port to hook up a vacuum hose, but I haven't found one to fit or I would definitely be using it for this particular application. It's a little pricey, but the build quality appears good, the motor has easily-replaceable brushes, and it's a Makita - I have no doubt it will be working for me for years to come. It came with an assortment of belts in varying grits, and I purchased more in boxes of 40, 80, and 120 grit. Belt changes are relatively easy, and they track well without fuss. I just wish I could get in a little tighter with the nose in some spaces - the hardware for the stabilizing handle is a little bulky around the front hub, and the motor extends to the opposite side, making it a little difficult or even impossible to maneuver around some obstacles or in tight spaces up against walls. Still, it lets you get a LOT more places than traditional belt sanders. My pneumatic oscillating multi-tool sander gets in most places this one can't, but it's nowhere near as fast or effective as the belt sander at removing material, and it's a lot more difficult to set up and noisier to boot. I can think of a dozen more uses in my project list where this sander will fit the bill. For small jobs, this sander is light, easy, and quick - definitely fills a unique niche in my assortment of power tools. I only wish it had come with a storage box.

Are company and gone threw several of these off brand sanders , and now finally have one that is lasting and a good value. Wish we would of chosen this one a couple of years ago , we would of saved hundreds of dollars.

1-1/8 IN. X 21 IN. BELT SANDER works great. Had one before. Be careful not to drop. They break relatively easy. Other than that, it is a nice tool.

This sander is great. It removes material very easily and vary fast. I had used this sander before purchasing and had great results, so I bought it. My only concern is that there is a little non-adjustable pin that keeps the wheel locked in its position as it rotates. Mine seems to be a little loose, so the sander makes a small humming noise that the previous sander I used did not make. I think quality control may have let one slip by!
