Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kidred Best grinder I've ever owned!!!
This grinder holds up and perfoms well. I use it for steel siding, valley tin, ceramic tile, cement board, patio brick, ect. ect... And there was a blade for every use in the kit to start out.I like the paddle switch as well over the switch on the side. As a remodeling contractor, I sometimes use it daily and have went through several in the last 15 years. This one is 2 yrs old now and still performs like the day I bought it. I blow the dust out of mine with the compressor at the end of the day when I cut cement board, or other dusty material to prevent over heating. When this one breaks or calls it quits, I will defenitley buy another one!

Bought this to widen the hole in our granite countertop for a replacement top mount sink. Even though the new sink was the same width and height of the one I was replacing it would not fit in the existing hole due to the bowl shape.
I've never used a grinder before and I've never attempted any task like this, but this tool made it relatively straightforward to cut the countertop and successfully install the new sink. The tool is easy to assemble and looks well built.
I bought a Makita after extensive research online. This tool seems really versatile and I plan to use it to cut tile instead of buying a tile saw for some upcoming kitchen and bathroom tiling projects.

I've owned mine for about two years now, and have just killed it for the second time. It's a great size, has great ergonomics, and feels like a high-quality tool... But if you run it for more than 20 minutes straight, it'll overheat and destroy the brushes and armature. Fortunately, parts and repairs are cheap (~$25 for brushes and armature)... I'd just rather not have to deal with fixing it.
Not recommended for professionals, flooring projects, or really any continuous-duty use.

I've had mine for several years now & never had an issue. I recently brought it out of the country & wasn't informed about a voltage converter & it blew the motor.
I definitely will be buying another! I love the paddle lick/switch instead of the standard switch, I don't have to readjust my hands when using it which makes for easy use.

I have other Makita power tools, and to say the very least, they hold up and last. You may pay a little more but you get a bang for the buck.I bought the 9557PB,they had lesser expensive ones but the guy at Home depot explained them all to me.The cheaper ones are great for simple home projects, but the better ones have higher speed motors and really are work horses. This one is simply a beast.I cut through metal studs with no effort.Got to be careful with the grinding wheel,it will saw through metal if your not paying attention. It's that powerful.I highly recommend this and I bought mine at Home depot for a GREAT buy!!!

I purchased this to replace a cheap grinder from HF that broke after two hours of use. As with all my other Makita tools this grinder is well made and works great. I used it for making strait cuts in concrete. The paddle switch has a lock down that works nice. One feature that made the sale was you can use cupped or flat grinding and cutting wheels, unlike cheaper brands that are only for cupped grinding wheels. I have learned my lesson and will pay a few more bucks for quality tools. It is very annoying having to stop a job to replace a tool in the middle of a job. Makita is simply one of the best.
