I ordered a Master Piece patio door on-line from Home Depot, and had it delivered to local store. It came packed very well in plastic wrapping, cardboard, and 2x4s.
1) I noticed two small dings and a staple stuck in the door. I didn’t notice until I had the door completely unpackaged and about to install.
2) There’s a sticky haze on the inside and outside of just the top half of the glass. I didn’t notice until after the door was installed and the sun was shining through. I assumed it would come right off easily. It did not.
3) The local Home Depot would do nothing, and said call Master Piece or the Home Depot 800 number for on-line orders.
4) Master Piece would do nothing. They said clean it, and too late you’ve installed it. Oh but you could have returned it if you hadn’t installed it already. We are very sorry and apologize for your inconvenience.
I installed myself with the help of a friend. There are no issues with the install—the door is working fine otherwise.
Now I’ve took off from work, made arrangements for help (needed for a 250 pound door), unwrapped, and about to install---and now sto? Home Depot and Master Piece will tell you sorry you shouldn’t have installed. But what they won’t directly say is, “We are not at all concerns about your loss of time or money should you decide to return the door, and we know it won’t be easy for you to do.” Returning this is not so simple for this type of item. It’s not like returning a tool.
The dings were covered by cardboard even after unpacking most of the materials. I didn’t notice the haze, and would have assumed it would come off easily—it did not. See pics for yourself.
Given this information decide for yourself whether to order a Master Piece door from Home Depot.
My recommendation would be this. Don’t order a Master Piece door. Their customer service was not the least bit concerned. Don’t order large items from Home Depot on-line. This is not new condition. Not for a $550 item. Neither Master Piece nor Home Depot would do a thing after contacting them.

I bought this door to replace an Anderson wood slider that couldn't handle the north-facing exposure (rotted.)
My installer refused to read directions but had good gut instincts to get the job done right.
The door feels "massive" - like a "bank vault". I am happy I bought it.

I searched for a new slider for a long time, visited 8 different Home Depots to look for differences in models without having to special order a new door. I finally found ONLINE ONLY this door. It was exactly what I wanted, it was around the price I wanted to pay, buying sight unseen was hard to do,but I am so glad that I did! I had a contractor install it, he raved about what a nice door it is, I watched the process of installation and he had no problems what so ever. The door is heavy and sturdy, so if there is any outside noise I don't want to hear, all I have to do is shut the door and I hear NOTHING! I LOVE the windows and the panes. So much light coming in my living room and with the accented wood look it looks amazing, giving my living room that country, woody feel to it. I would definitely recommend this door I absolutely LOVE IT!!

Door functions flawlessly, installation was straight forward, fairly simple. Make sure you spend time adding appropriate amounts of insulation and using sealants when doing this install. Noise cancellation is an added bonus.
You will need an assist in getting this door to the house from the vehicle (it is very heavy) as well as when it comes time to slip it into your opening.

This is a fine product -- well-constructed and attractive.
Minor problem of wind noise during strong storms was solved by applying 1-in. wide strip of adhesive-backed white vinyl bathroom caulk tape as weatherstripping down the exterior center joint.
Holding this 220-lb. fully-assembled door vertically, two medium-build guys placed it on an old surfboard and, with a helper pulling it like a sled, slid it over lawn to patio.
In the Installation and Finishing Instructions, under Tools Required, the line 13/32" & 1/8" Drill Bits is incorrect: A 13/32" bit is a BIG bit and neither bit was required as jamb and header screw holes were perfect. Installation screws and plugs were included. Six-inch wide butyl wrap was used on jambs and sill.

I just had this door installed and it is awesome. It glides easily but it does need a little help from you because the door is heavy due to the great quality and construction. Looks great! I would definitely recommend this door to anyone looking for a great quality door. Only negative is I had to purhcase a screen seperately.
