Answer:
Thank you for your interest in the 30 inch Digital Electric Smoker with Window and Remote Control. The side wood chip loader allows you conveniently add wood chips without opening the door. Every time you have to open the door to add wood chips on a smoker, you are releasing the internal heat which causes the smoking process to take longer.

Answer:
No you do not need to open the door to add wood chips. It has a try on the side you pull out, load the chips into and then turn to dump them into the tray all without needing to open the smoker.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in the Masterbuilt 30 in. Digital Electric Smoker. You may smoke as much meat in this unit at one time that will fit comfortably, leaving space around the sides for heat to distribute evenly throughout the cooking process. As a general guide, you could comfortably fit two 5-7 pound pork shoulders into this unit at one time.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good while it lasts - 2nd unit now shot First let me say - many reviews come after a use or two. They are mostly positive because of it. The reason: This unit does really well for the most part. However, the unit simply doesn't last. I purchased the warranty with this unit and after 1 year to the month it stopped working. I took it in and Home Depot replaced it without issue (Kudos to them). Now, a year and a half later, the second unit has failed the exact same way. I simply believe the internal components are cheap and that they don't hold up. I'm now going to a different brand moving forward. Something also to keep in mind - the internal thermometer and thermostat are not accurate (was off on both units). To make an accurate temp I had to purchase a secondary thermometer to monitor both the internal temp and internal temp of the meat. The window is nearly useless unless you plan on cleaning the unit after every smoking (which can be bothersome and kinda useless). The smoke builds a film over the glass on the first use and after that you may as well had a better unit without the glass. The "remote" system is pointless considering the unit does not accurately read the temp. Overall the unit cooks well at the right temps when using a secondary temp monitoring system. However, it seems to be loaded with cheap electronics that won't hold up over time. August 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by What happened to the cooking manual? Bought the smoker as a gift for my parents. My Dad put it together, with out any issues. They both loved the appearance of the smoker. The issue was, there was no manual to give you an idea, on how long to smoke various meats. Since smoking is very different from grilling, they had to guess & pray that they didn't ruin the meats. However, they felt that the meats were tender and had great flavor. Needless to say, they are quite satisfied and will get lots of use out of it. I will look for a how to book, for smoking meats.
