if i have a three quarter hole in a metal box can it step in up to a 1 in EMT connector by drilling into the the hole

Answer: 
Yes, step bits will allow for the enlarging of an existing hole. For 1” EMT needs a ¾” Hole can be enlarges to 1-3/8” for 1” EMT installation.
We would recommend a #12 Step Bit (48-89-9212) to ensure you can get the proper hole size for the 1” Adapter for the EMT
