Questions & Answers

Will this battery replace the older 18 volt 2.4Ah NiCad battery pack?

I have a complete set of the older Milwaukee 18 Volt NiCad powered cordless tools however the NiCad batteries don't last very long both in power and longevity. I love the tools but need to know if there is a lithium-lon 18 volt battery that will fit them on the market from Milwaukee. Also if available what charger is needed to charge. Thanks.

yes as long as it says V-18 and not M-18V (M is new style) I read on this blog the newer V-18 doesn't fit in one of the Boom box radios ?

Which charger charges these V18 batteries?

Went into store and purchased Charger Cat. No. 48-59-0255. The employee told me that it worked on all that slide onto tool. I do not believe that to be true because mine does not seem to fit correctly. I would like to be certain before heading back into store.

Is there an alternative for this tool?

I have a fairly new drill that I haven't used in a few years, the batteries are not taking a charge now. I would like to start using this drill again, but don't want to pay more for 2 new batteries than a whole new drill combo kit would cost. Is there an alternative to these batteries?
Asked by: Lockshoplouie
truthfully no! sadly even battery kits on Amazon are $69 and that is a bunch of batterys soldered up to fit inside your battery case! from what I here they do work good, (better quality batteries) it is sad that Milwaukee expects us to pay $119 for one battery to use tools that are otherwise fine, but they did change the design of how the batteries inter connect to new drills. This was on my Christmas list to maybe get a new tool and use the batterie in all tools but No! that is not going to happen! hope this helps there is a bunch of us that sure would like to see Milwaukee, lower the price of old style batteries , because we feel a little burned! thanks Skully, see what is better deal!!! http://www.homedepot.com/s/milwaukee%2520v18?NCNI-5 http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-18-Volt-Compact-Drill-and-Impact-Driver-Kit-R9600SB/205336140

It may be more cost effective to jump to the new generation tools. but i just cant stand letting a perfectly good base tool (in my case a cordless sawzall) go in the trash because the old ni-cad batteries are dead. i have already purchased replacement ni-cad batteries in the past, so now i am paying the extra money ($88 vs $72) to get Li-ion. just as a comparison with my old batteries - it seems about the same. maybe the Li-ion is a little lighter, but no big difference in power or longevity. overall i am happy i am getting more use out of a cordless tool i bought about 10 years ago.

When I found these V18 Lithium-Ion's at HD for $88.03 + tax to replace those for my Hammer Drill and Driver Combo that is about 8 years old, I jumped at the chance. The tools did not get used as much as a pro might but I have used them LOTS during remodeling and repairing two different houses. The original batteries have lost some umph, but still work o.k. which told me two new ones would be a good investment. I am now set for years more service instead of throwing away perfectly good tools. Thanks Milwaukee and Home Depot!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from v-18 batteries It's sad I have a slightly older Milwaukee set includes flash light saws all hammer drill and drill driver, all the batteries are toast Milwaukee charges $119 just for one old style battery , I looked at the new drills and drivers and the batteries no longer connect in the same way forcing you to have old batteries rebuilt or pay $119 per old style that will not work in any of the new tools, they should have done a recall on the old tools and batteries or NOT CHANGE the style of the connector thanks allot Milwaukee I used to be a big fan... do whats right offer a trade in value or recall of the V-18 style batteries and tools! or atleast make batter cost normal!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from v18 batteries Obviously Milwaukee brand relates to quality and my v18 cordless set is just that, well built to last for a long time , just as any contractor would expect from quality brand. However as for the batteries..... thats another story. An absolute let down in real term. I can barely cut through half a dozen nails in dismanteling pallets and battery is dead . Surely a reputable company like milwaukee must take responsibility by providing more affordable batteries to people with older sets, rather than ripping us off with over $100 for a single battery, where as a similar m18 battery costs almost half that. Are we being punished twice? Sadly no more milwaukee for me again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to find .. Like many others- the "tools" are outlasting the batteries- my "V"18 tools are in great shape, now a days- 99$ can buy you drill, battery plus charger! So I just couldn't part with two great drills and a saw- so finding these OEM "V"-18 batteries was a hard choice to purchase - I'm hopefull to get at least 5 more years from my tools-

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good battery but expensive to replace Battery is good, has enough power to get most jobs done, but, very expensive to replace. A shame that Milwaukee does not make it affordable for the average working man. I had to fork out $100 just for one battery!!! I definitely will not buy another Milwaukee power tool that's battery operated.
