The shelf was an ONLINE item only. It arrived and was damaged, but not the the point to where I wanted to return it to the store and wait for another to arrive. The shelf itself is make of VERY THIN compressed wood and a portion of it was bent (thats how flimsy it was). I read the review before buying and knew this was going to take some TLC to make work. We did NOT use the hardware that came with it, but purchased some quality screws instead. We were able to hit a couple studs for stability, but without that, I am not sure it would have held much weight. I am still kinda waiting for it to fall, but so far so good. So it's up and holding a couple items with some weight to them. I think it looks nice- as long as no one touches it, we should be good. :) For the $34 price tag for a 48" shelf, I'd says it's worth what you pay for.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by Jimmy Very nice - but not exactly what I was expecting.
Our first order arrived with one (1) shelf having a corner dinged and Home Depot refunded it without question.
After reading all the reviews I'll agree the shelves are manufactured from a cheaper grade material, however the shelves are not very expensive. For a modest $35.00 investment - I'm quite happy with them holding picture frames and little knickknacks.
I am not confident the shelves could hold 90 lbs and i'm not willing to attempt to check the claim either so i won't be putting anything too heavy on the shelves.
On a good note, i've never installed shelves or floating shelves before and followed some video guidance from youtube and have no issues with the shelves leaning or falling off the wall.
Aesthetically, they look great and seem to hold very well considering they're not bearing much weight. I would recommend the product but warn of the weight put on the shelf and to make sure you anchor it well to the wall.

One of the 2 shelves was damaged- not from shipping but likely the manufacturer. I repaired myself with glue and some stain and it came out good. It was easier to repair than to go thru the hassle of returning, getting a replacement, etc. In the end they do look good.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by John Very pleased with my purchase
I bought this shelf to go above my TV stand and flat screen TV. The color match to my Aspen Cherry colored TV stand is uncanny. I know this is advertised as a "floating" shelf but I went ahead and bought two (2) Rubbermaid 8 inch Arch Shelf Brackets Model # FG4C7003BLA. Since I had planned to put a Center Home Theater Speaker on the shelf, I wanted to make sure it would be nice and sturdy, and it is. Even without additional brackets, it's rated to hold 35 lbs. I opted to go with the 48" shelf because this is about the width of my TV stand and I wanted room to be able to put other decorative items on it besides the Center Speaker. The Rubbermaid brackets attached to the shelf with no problem and gave the shelf a nice look too. Incidentally, I did not use the included mount/hardware that came with the shelf. I was really surprised at the quality (and look) of this shelf. I was skeptical about the MDF product that it is made of (it is extremely light-weight), but it rivals any quality wood shelf I've seen at a fraction of the cost. I couldn't be happier, it looks fantastic, and it would have taken me a lot more time to have built a custom shelf, let alone try and match the stain color. I did not experience any unusual odors or discolorations that other reviewers have reported. For the price, it can't be beat.

The shelf is very easy to install. However, the quality of the shelf is about as good as the cardboard box it came in. We bought four shelves and two had corners so dinged up they will be returned. I'm not sure what the shelf is made of, but it feels like compressed paper.
The two shelves installed look nice, but we won't be putting anything on it bigger than a picture frame. Save your money.
