The light cycles on and off

When the motion is activated the light will cycle on and off for a few minutes, then go off until the motion is tripped again. I've adjusted both sensitivity and time and no luck.

I had to return all of these lights. All but one was like a strobe light.

I've bought 2 of these lights and neither of them work??

My old light works but when we hook this one up, tried a regular 60 watt bulb, light won't come on?? Returned one fixture and got another and same thing?? Tried an LED light bulb won't work either?? What is the problem with this fixture?? HELP!!!
Asked by: Tina
I had the same thing happen: the answer appears to be that they don't work with LED lights. They seem to only work with the regular lights.

cannot set on manual?

The instructions say to have the light set to manual turn light on/off within 2 seconds, I've tried over and over but it keeps reverting back to sensor movement only. Any ideas on how to override this to where I can have it on continuously?
Asked by: Chris
Chris, I've had the same problem for the longest time (over a year), and I've also had a problem with the light not staying on very long (even with the Time set to max) when on the motion sensor. I called the manufacturer's Custmer Service and they were very friendly and we tried to figure it out. They even sent me a replacement light thinking it was a bad sensor (which it wasn't apparently - see below). Nothing seemed to work. But in the last couple nights I've done some things that seems to have solveld the problem(s): 1. I switched from Compact Flouresent Light (CFL) bulbs to LED bulbs (my local Home Depot had them on sale for $2.49 for 40 Watt equivilent thanks to a program from the electric utility). This "faster" bulb (without the milliseconds delay the CFL takes to start) seems to not interfere with the On-Off-On at the switch needed to put the light into Manual mode. (Maybe it wasn't the speed of the bulb but the different shape of the bulb that changed the light pattern on the wall - see Item 2 below). 2. (But the light still wasn't staying on that long in manual mode) So next I tried put a small sliver of black electrical tape over about 1/8-1/4 of the Daylight Sensor underneath the light (where you adjust the Time and Sensitivity). To be clear: I did not completely cover the sensor; just a little bit. (My house is a light yellow and I wondered if the light itself might be throwing off the Daylight Sensor). And as of tonight, this seems to have solved that second problem. So far so good at least. I will find out tomorrow whether the daylight sensor still works with that tiny part of the sensor eye covered. My only complaint now is that the Field-of-View of the Motion Sensor is only 110 degrees instead of 140 (or more); for where my lamp is placed a wider field would be better. Good Luck.

To Replace the light bulb, please follow these steps, Remove Lens housing by simply twisting counter clockwise to release. Replace use only a type A medium base lamp(bulb)-60 watts max - remove by gently twisting lamp counter clockwise until it becomes free of fixture then install new bulb.. (do not over-tighten bulb) Re-install lens housing.

With great joy we purchased this light fixture because it fit the nautical theme we are aiming for in our new waterfront home. The install went fine but the minute the sun went down the strobe light effect began . We tried compact florescent, LED and plain old incandescent bulbs to no avail. I tried adjusting the sensitivity and time duration again to no avail . I'm Glad we only bought one fixture at first , we have a need for at least 3 more but not a chance now. Poor job Newport Nautical this is a beautifully designed fixture , too bad the engineering is sub par. I'll be taking it down in the morning . I don't have the box to return it in so I've basically squandered away $45 . Thanks !

The package included everything you need to install it: slotted metal bracket, screws, and wire nuts. The adjustments are easy to use and the best part is that it uses standard light bulb (I used a LED).

After dark the unit will turn on when activated via the motion detector but then will cycle on and off every couple of seconds for about a minute. We exchanged the first unit that did this and the second one acts the same

I loved everything about this light fixture EXCEPT that it cannot be installed more than seven feet off the ground or the sensor will not pick up motion. I do not recall reading that in the online description or I would not have purchased this light fixture. It makes sense (hindsight) because of the way the non adjustable sensor is placed. This light was returned because I wanted it for the center peak of my garage.
