Would this nailer work to install cedar fencing?

I'm using cedar fencing as wall paneling in a small shed. Cedar cracks really easily, however, and I've had to pre-drill in the past. Would this nailer install it without drilling? If so, what size of nails should I use?
Asked by: Choshe
I would use a differnt type of nailer for that...one that uses a full round head nail

I just wanted a 16 GA nailer, and this Numax works just fine. Solid build. Weight is just right, not too heavy. Drives 2 1/2 inch finish nails right in. I adjusted PSI on my compressor to around 95 PSI and nails went right through a 2x4 with no issues. See photo 2. Great deal at that price too. Would recommend.

I've driven tons of nails with this installing Hardie trim and siding. I am religious about lubricating with air oil before use. Gun doesn't always fire off a nail, sometimes just a dimple in the object, requiring me to drive again and fill additional holes after. Has jammed on me a number of times sending 2 1/2 inch nails into Hardie trim. Most annoying is the previously mentioned misfires. Lightweight, easy loading, but I find myself sliding the loading latch back and releasing before firing off to ensure it will attempt to drive a nail. I have also used a sharpie to mark the visible nails in the small window to visually confirm nails are moving down the slide. I don't feel I should have to do that. Fortunately I am a DIYer and don't rely on this to make a living. If that were the case I would have invested in a more expensive name brand nailer. Like I said, hit and miss.....

I was thinking of renting the nailer, but it was more cost effective to buy this one. It works really well. I own a Dewalt brad nailer and this tool seems to be as good of quality. I would buy this brand again. I have had the tool for a week. I am a DYI'er, not a contractor.

Bought this nailer to do some minor home improving and I have zero complaints. It worked well and I had no problems with it jamming. It was quite easy to use and it didn't feel like I was holding a piece of junk. Based on my experiences with it I'd recommend this tool anytime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I’m a professional DIY’er, always working on something. I bought both the framing gun and the brad nailer about 1 yr. ago. I can say nothing but good about both. I have used the framing gun about 30 to 40 hours and the brad nailer on a regular basis (weekly). They are both easy to use. Nails are common and readily available anywhere I have shopped. They are easy to load and have yet to have had a misfire. But the best part is the value, you can’t buy a better one for the money. When I bought mine there were only about 15 reviews, but those who had purchased them sounded legit. I bought based on those reviews and I am glad I did. Buy one and see for yourself
