can a cfl be installed in place of the 100 watt bulb

NuTone 70 CFM 3.0 sones Exhaust Fan with Light NuTone White Grille 100W Incandescent Bulb Model # 769RL Internet # 100140619 Store SKU # 416986
Asked by: Anonymous
Many people do. There will be less heat but a CFL will produce some UV light which *may* have an adverse effect on the plastic. I am replacing an end-of-life unit that had a CFL and the plastic has yellowed slightly (I only noticed it after cleaning off the dirt & dust. It could be due to prior heat/incandescent damage before the CFL was installed. This unit is at least 10 years old. Could be 30 for all I know!) The safest thing would be to use a compact LED bulb. They produce very little heat and zero UV light.

How can I change the light bulb?

Cannot figure out how to get to the bulb so I can replace burnt out one
Asked by: Padade
The lens cover is a snap-in cover. Using a flat head screw driver or a butter knife, gently insert it between the lens and grille. you will see that there are 'tabs'. Put a little pressure and the grille should pop out. Also use a little caution so you don't drop the lens cover. This will expose the bulb and allow you to change it.

I want to replace our existing bathroom fan, but we're in a first floor condo with no attic access. Will this work?

Asked by: Kim
You can install this unit in new construction or existing construction. Attic access is always beneficial, but not necessary. But please be certain you have duct work to the outside. In some condos they only install non-duct fan so you need to be certain you have duct work. If you have questions before you begin this project, just give us a call at 888-336-6151. Our Technical Support Department can assist. Thank you.

how do I change the light bulb?

can not get it down from the ceiling.
Asked by: TD
The lens snaps into the grille. It has a small plastic 'tab' on both sides. Using a flat head screw driver or a butter knife, gently, gently pull it out. It will come out. Use caution so you do not drop it. This will expose the bulb so you can replace it. Be sure the unit is turned OFF before you begin. Increasing the CFM to 70 was a major improvement in removing steam from my bathroom. The store clerk was such a professional at helping us to decide which CFM to go with as well as telling us which type of bulb to use for a brighter light. I've had this exhaust fan installed now for 3 weeks or so and no more steam escapes into my hallway! I can also now see in the mirror as soon as I'm done drying off. Great exhaust, and great lighting. Ive never had a better one then this one.

Was thrilled to find that this new fan fit perfectly inside the old enclosure, which eliminated about 90% of the work. Electrical connections plug in and work the same. Even the holes for the single mounting screw matched up! The new fan is strong, reasonably quiet, and although the lens and grille have a different look, the easily-installed cover completely hides the ceiling opening. Most importantly, all the ladies in the house like it! Thanks, NuTone for sticking with a good design and making it easy on us homeowners!

The 769RL his works as a replacement for the old 669LN model originally installed in my building. However, although it says "with light, white grille and bulb", NO bulb was included in the sealed box that was shipped to me. I used the light part from my old 669LN which has a screw in socket. The model shown uses an unusual four prong (I think) fluroescent bulb. I am happy having a standard bulb socket. I gave it three stars because the light bulb was missing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from bright and clean look, kinda loud It's hard to decide on a bathroom vent fan based on 'numbers' on a box. Sadly, this is much louder than I would have expected. Considering this is a guest bathroom not used often, we are going to keep the unit, but I really think it's too loud. As far as the light, it's nice and bright and I assume the vent is doing it's job correctly as the bathroom doesn't get fogged up as I would expect without the fan on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid ceiling fan. This ceiling fan was relatively easy to install due to the fact that the connections closely resembled my old one. Very effective since it clears the air of odor in minutes. It also looks really good and the light is not too bright. Had a little trouble understanding the wiring diagram but ultimately figured it out.

It was relatively easy to install and surprisingly efficient. It was so quite I didn't think it was going to really move much air but we were pleasantly surprised. The mirror didn't even fog up after our teenagers' lengthy shower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why bother Installed this "fan" about two years ago in my bathroom that didnt have one. Im a contractor so I thought it would be an ok fan. Well now its starting to make noise, like the bearing is going. Dont waste your money on this China junk.
