Product Overview

Plant Patent 11860. A wonderful plant for the perennial border or in a woodland garden, this perennial sports attractive, fern like, dark green foliage that is beautiful in itself. In early to mid summer, tall, raspberry pink, flower plumes appear. When planted en masse, the flower display is stunning.

  • Light pink flower plumes rise above foliage in mid summer
  • Easy to grow in consistently moist, shaded sites
  • Elegant, lacy, blue green foliage provides texural contrast
  • Somewhat more drought tolerant than other astilbe
  • 1 Gal. pot - state or federal regulations may require this plant to ship as a bare root plant, without pot and without soil
  • May ship in a dormant state, with no top growth at all
  • Plant ships bare root, without pot and without soil, to Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 4 to 8, when grown in other zones, special care requirements will be required
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 1 ft. away from other plants or structures
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the shake and ship system has been used to remove soil from roots

Thank you for your question. The Astilbe prefer a light to moderate shaded site, as the foliage will burn from a hot afternoon sun.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dont Order I ordered the astilbe and when it came, it was not 1gallon but a tiny sad looking plant with three stalks plus the leaves (no flowers) was dying. This is not a 1gallon plant but a seedling nursey plant. Dont Order. April 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent quality and condition. The plants arrived in a timely manner and were in very good condition. They adapted well after planting. Their size was primary for new plants. This was my first mail order plant purchase from Home Depot and delivery and condition were very competitive with the best online nurseries. May 19, 2012
