Product Overview

Robust, compact, rounded, hardy plant for northern gardens with very refined, 3-lobed cut leaves, which produces impressive, large, 8 in. wide lavender flowers from summer to fall. Useful in mass, as a hedge, along the edge of a pond, or in water up to 6 in. deep. Very late to break dormancy and you may think it did not survive winter, but once it emerges from dormancy, the plant will become a showy accent. Mature height of 3 ft. with a similar spread. Plant in moist, well drained soil in full sun.

  • Assembled dimension: 8 in. W x 7 in. D x 8 in. H
  • Large 8 in. wide flowers
  • Non-tropical plant
  • Stunning blooms summer to fall
  • 2 Gal. pot - state or federal regulations may require this plant to ship as a bare root plant, without pot and without soil
  • Tough, hardy shrub for low spots in or wet areas of the landscape
  • May ship in a dormant state, with no top growth at all
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 4 to 8, when grown in other zones, special care requirements will be required
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 36 in. away from other plants or structures
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the shake and ship system has been used to remove soil from roots

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. The Fantasia Hibiscus is hardy to Zone 4 and Michigan has plant zones ranging from 4 to 6. Yes, this plant could be planted outside in Michigan. In Zone 4 areas (check your zone by entering your zip code at the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map website), a thicker layer of mulch could be put down for extra winter insulation over the roots.
