Looks exactly as advertised and feels solid and high-end. Yes, the heads themselves are plastic but look beautiful. There is solid brass throughout all the interior plumbing where it matters. I did a lot of research before purchasing in February 2016 and almost passed the Kauai up due to poor reviews regarding water pressure, diverter operation and installation issues. The Kauai III has resolved all of those problems! Our plumber had no trouble installing and there is great water pressure from both heads. Diversion is smooth and complete with no dripping from either head that is not in use. When turned off, the water quickly flows out of rain shower with none of the residual dripping some reviewers complained about in earlier versions. We have been using this product daily for 6 months now with no problems whatsoever.
We had this shipped to Home Depot store for the free shipping and ease of return if we hadn't been satisfied. Delivery was quick with all parts in box and well-packed. Instructions were clear. Very satisfied - an all-around great value for the price.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ralphiel Very high quality, heavy and beautiful; better than others that are 3 times the price; easy, clear DIY install.
I shopped a lot, both on line and in stores, and read lots of reviews and comparisons. This Kauai III from Pulse is preferable to many units I saw in top-end stores for $450 to $480. Very high quality: the fittings are all heavy and well-machined brass, with well-designed seals and assembly points. The heavy, glossy chrome plating is very satisfying. The valve operation is smooth and easy, nice and firm. The soap dish is also metal and well-plated. The only chrome-plated plastic is on the rain head and the hand-held shower heads themselves; the entire piping is all nice heavy metal.
You want the Kauai III, not the Kauai II; the III version allows running both shower heads at once. Buying at Home Depot guaranteed getting the Kauai III, because Pulse drop-ships the Kauai orders, whereas the large Amazing on-line store had the two versions confused in their warehouse and could not assure which one would ship.
The manufacturer, Pulse, does continuous improvement; I noticed they had revised one of the water restrictions to improve it, when the nice exploded view drawing included was a little different from the parts, and did not show the improvement in the drawing. I phoned them a couple times, before and after buying, always immediately getting helpful knowledgable friendly human beings to answer questions -- a pleasure. When I could not find one of the parts, the person immediately offered to send me parts, free! But the parts were in there after all, I'd just overlooked them.
Removing the water restrictors is easy if you want to do so and are allowed to do so where you live. When both showers are running at the same time, the flow from each is reduced -- hey, it's just physics -- but still works. My wife likes a rain head, and I prefer a more focused shower, so this works for both of us. I thought that if I did not like the flow options on the hand-held shower, I could always easily replace just the hand-held, because it has a standard fitting like most (or all?) of them do, but when it arrived I was happy that it has five flow setting selections, and when I turned it on I was happy with it.
Some features I noticed and liked: The hose for the hand-held is connected at the BOTTOM of the pipe, not up at the top of the shower. That means the hose reaches much farther, whether for washing the shower, washing the dog, or for reaching anywhere on your body. The hose fitting is a nice heavy well-machined brass, swivel unit, and the hose is clad with stainless outside, not just a plastic tube outside. Also, the valve which selects the shower head is at the bottom, so someone doesn't have to be tall or even grown-up to reach it! The hand-held shower head can be mounted toward the left, or the right, and can be raised or lowered by just pushing the little spring-loaded button on the clamp. The rain head is on a tube that goes up, so the bottom of the rain head is a couple inches higher than the hole in the wall, which is a good and rare feature. Also the tube holds the rain head far away from the wall. Did not find another shower with all these features.
Easy to install, with good instructions. I realized the bottom of the shower assembly was quite low, as it is a long assembly. I mounted it nice and high (I'm over six feet and HATE low showers, this is great) but still the bottom of it is low, so: think ahead about where your valve is going to be, or where it IS. I wanted my valve to be high enough to reach comfortably, normal height, so mounted my valve about eight inches to the right so that it would not be too close to the hand-held hose swivel fitting. I put the valve toward the shower door opening, so it would be easy to reach in and turn on the water before getting in, to let it warm up; that worked out great (see pic).
The Home Depot order went smoothly; ordered on line, simple, and they sent confirming email, very clear, and they sent me a message about shipment status, so I knew right when it was coming in. It came Very Well Packaged by factory, and with a preprinted return label in case there were any issues. The unit was available at a few different places, but best price was at Home Depot, and that was for the latest version, which is shipped directly from the factory, never shipped and re-shipped through the Home Depot warehouses or stores.
So: don't be fooled by other models costing 3 or four times as much (they too have plastic on the shower heads); this unit is a high-quality shower with a luxurious spa feel and well-designed features, from a company with supportive people you can talk to on the phone.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bob Excellent purchase. I have installed for others, BUT this is the first time we pampered ourselves. We enjoy taking showers now .
Very easy to install. All the parts were included. It takes about two hours (working slowly so as not to screw up) to install the shower head. You may have to change the length of the 1/2 inch pipe coming out of the water source to fit your design for the shower (I needed a 3 1/2 inch pipe). Instructions could be more a bit more detailed, but it was very easy to figure out. The rain shower head works great and provides a good, strong, flow to cleanse you. We are very satisfied.

Love that we can rain shower and also have the convenience of a hand shower. Good, sturdy, easy to use, but I guess our plumber said it was a little effort more to put it together.
