Product Overview

A strong railing design begins with the post support - a key area in providing a safe and stable railing system. Our Aluminum Stair Post is firmly anchored to deck surfaces with a sturdy, attractive 4 x 4 base support. Unlike flat base plates, the die cast base of our end post provides a complete four-sided support to the 2 x 2 post and overall stability to your railing system. The Aluminum Stair Post is a fundamental part of the Peak Aluminum Railing - an attractive, durable and low-maintenance railing system. While other railings may warp, rot or decay, Peak Aluminum Railing stays strong for years thanks to its superior protection and lasting beauty.

Answer:
Hello, and thank you for your question. Yes, the Peak Aluminum Railing posts can be installed on concrete or cement. A fastener specifically designed for concrete will need to be used. The fasteners that ship with the Peak Aluminum Railing posts are designed for connection to a wooden substrate.

Hi 9ah, thanks very much for your question. Typically, we don't recommend altering our products in this way, or using alternate components in conjunction with Peak Aluminum Railing to construct a deck railing. Since we have never tested our product in this capacity, we would not be able to guarantee that the railing would meet the necessary building codes in your area or provide the adequate safety features that you would expect from a guardrail system. If you have any additional questions we recommend giving our customer service team a call toll free at (877) 883-7325. Thanks again for your question, we will look forward to hearing from you. 4 in. x 4 in. x 42 in. White Aluminum Stair Post is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stair Railings After completing part of my two area railing project I am very happy with the way they look and that they seem to be solid as a rock. That having been said, I will say that making railings less than conventional full length was very difficult determining all the cuts that I had to make. I had bought 6' railing system pieces and my idea is to use it in two different locations @ my home. The first one ended up as a 22" railing & the second is yet to be determined. It also tells you that you can make the cuts with a hacksaw and that is as far from the truth as possible. I ended up buying a special aluminum cutting blade for my compound miter saw and that made the project 1000% better. In spite of the difficulty I had in the installation we( my wife & I) are very happy with the product we chose. I believe it is very good quality and look forward to having my total project completed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for house step railing This product worked out well as a railing at front steps. It is intended for deck steps, but I anchored it with expanding concrete anchors. The description 4 x4" is misleading. That is dimension of base.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I decided to install the Peak Aluminum railing for a couple of reasons. 1. In the Pacific Northwest it won’t rust or rot as fast as wood or metal. 2. This system is modular, so replacing individual pickets is easier than replacing an entire section of fixed railing. Components I used in the installation include the 4 foot rails, 6 foot rails, 6 foot stair rails, 6 foot stair pickets, 6 foot standard pickets, Stair Posts, End Posts, Corner Posts, Mid Posts, Wall Brackets, Stair Brackets, Universal Brackets, Walk Through Gate, and Decorative Spacers. Installation was fast and easy for the most part. I started at a corner, and worked my around the deck. On the runs that attached to a wall, I used a Mid or End Post to mark the location of the wall Mount Brackets. Where I had a short section, I placed it near the wall, or near a gate to give the gate a little more stability. I installed a couple of 6 foot rails on one run, and decided to redo it with 4 foot rails. Most of the runs were such that 4 foot rails were easier, and I replaced the 6 foot rails for uniformity. Stair Posts, End Posts, Mid Posts, and Corner Posts were easy to work with, and the feel secure when installed. Stairs are a little tricky and difficult. Installing a 3 foot section of stair railing takes as long as installing 30-40 feet of standard railing. The stair raining will take about an hour and a half each rail. There are no instructions giving you advice on how to measure or cut the railing. I used scrap pieces of Bottom Railing as spacers, and everything worked out with a 42 inch measurement from the stair to the top of the Stair Rail. It will take a bit to measure and cut the spacers for the stair railing. Don’t get frustrated if it takes a couple of times to get the first one right. After that the rest of the stair rails are easier. They will all take about an hour and a half. Follow the directions for the Walk Through Gate. I used scrap top rail pieces to rest the gate on when installing it, and that provided enough lift to get the top rail of the gate to match the top rail of the fence rail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Dream Patio My husband and myself finally completed the construction of our new family home over the holidays and being that spring is nearly upon us, I was very eager to outfit my patio to become my dream outdoor living space! I had finalized all but the railing enclosure, so I took to the internet. After many hours searching, comparing, and deliberating, I came to the conclusion that the Peak Aluminum Railing System was the one for me and my patio. And I couldn't have been more correct! The team at the Peak HQ patiently guided me through the process of laying out my patio and provided me with all information needed in order to have my railing to my preference, as there are numerous components that allowed me to add my personal touch! They were with my from start to finish - and even requested that I provide a photo of the finished product out of sheer interest. I am very happy with this company and the product that they manufacture. I will keep an eye out for the Peak logo whenever I embark on future home improvement products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality product The stair railings were difficult to put together, but they look nice and the aluminum is good quality. We bought extra stair posts because our deck has a slope (it is gradual, but amounts to a 4" difference in height over the length of the deck). We used the stair posts and universal connectors to stair-step the railing panels and take care of the slope. It worked, our installer said it was a bit of a pain, but he they did a great job. I imagine a sloped railing would be a bit of a pain for most products. It looks good and we are happy with it overall, and glad we could use the railing we wanted with a few tweaks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Black Aluminum Stair Post and Railing The product itself will meet our need and make the deck both useful and attractive. Of the eight posts I purchased, the post cap on two of the posts were broken in the plastic bag. I did not notice this till I was home and working on the project. This required an additional trip to Home Depot to return posts and get replacements. Next time I will be more diligent in examining the product before leaving the store.
