The person who installed it said that you would just flip it over to the other side if you wanted the door to open on the other side. I'm not sure if he was joking but it looked like that would be an easy solution.

Answer:
Hi Skip,
This cabinet can be mounted with the door opening facing right or left. To reverse the door opening just rotate the cabinet 180 degrees, so the top and bottom are reversed.
The shelves are designed to fit in either orientation.

I have 4 inches between the walls to install this, is 5 inches the depth of the frame going into the wall by itself, or is 5 inches including the mirror on the front? Thanks.

5 inches deep total. Cabinet itself is just under 4" deep, so you should be able to recess install it just fine. The frame is about 1 1/4" thick.

19-1/8 inch x 25-1/8 inch x 3-7/8 inch are the ruff wall opening dimensions listed in the pdf titled installation. I hope that depth is correct? This install guide has model numbers that don't match any numbers of home dept web site.

What color are the sides of the cabinet?

In the picture it appears that the sides may be aluminum metal finish and I was not planning to recess the cabinet, so I am not sure that I would want the different metal finish on the sides, with the frame around the mirror being bronze.

If you're surface mounting, the kit comes with mirrors that attach to the sides of the unit to cover the holes that the shelves mount on. These aren't used if you're recess mounting.

Answer:
The sides are aluminum metal unless you add the mirrors to the side. It would make more sense to be oil rubbed bronze but it's not. (I actually decided to recess it due to this reason even though I specifically bought it so I could surface mount it.) The inside is mirrored on the back of the door and on the back of the cabinet.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect! Building new house; looks like it was inspired by the architect! September 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking cabinet! Remove the mirror before installing the recessed cabinet and this is very easy to install. The hinges are substantial and the door (mirror) closes with ease. Overall this is an excellent product that looks great! March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality & Sophisticated So happy with this purchase! Fairly easy to install. We removed the cabinet door for easier installation (the whole unit is heavy & we were working in a tight space). This cabinet is solid, has nice finishes, and looks great! It was also less expensive than others. Bronze mirror frame is thick, creating a high quality look and feel. Soft close door is awesome! June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by stunning cabinet this is a great medicine cabinet. well made and has a mirror inside the cabinet so you can see the back of your head. it is heavy and well worth the money. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High quality product with 3 mirrors. Was actually much nicer than I expected. This cabinet actually has 3 full size mirrors. Besides the framed one pictured online, there are 2 more inside (back of the door and back wall of unit behind the shelves). The 2 internal mirrors are very handy for viewing the sides of your head which you can't see with only one mirror. Love the soft close hinges. Originally was going to surface mount it but it cast a large shadow on the sink as it blocked the wall light mounted above it. Was worth the time to cut a hole in the wall and recess mount it. Looks very classy. December 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Medicine cabinet Satisfied with the look n the color not hard to put up May 22, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by fancy in a box Nice appearance, although the "oil rubbed bronze" frame seems like plastic. Plenty o' glass and mirrors. Surface mounted, mainly cause I thought it only came in one size, but after delivery realized it can come in others, particularly to fit my old recessed, but that was pretty small, so bigger is better. However, height is same, and an extra shelf makes space for stuff smaller. (I know, I don't have to use all the shelves, but arranged them so everything fits; pegs fit tight and top ones virtually lock them into place - not easily changed.) Front door frame is wide all the way around the mirror, so mirror area is smaller than the older, smaller cabinet. Mirror on inside of door is full size of door, but 110 degree swing still doesn't make it convenient to use. The slow closing door (hinges) are nice if you don't like a slam, but could be a little too slow if you're in a hurry. Mounting at the top (surface mount) was a little sketchy when I tried to use only one bracket centered - it popped loose with some pressure; but then realized the center of the rail is open more to allow sliding multiple brackets to the side for a tighter fit. Overall, pretty nice - much better than our old, bottom-of-the-line, plastic model. Makes me feel like Mister fancy-pants. April 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pegasus recessed mirror 20 x 26 I love the design of the mirror. It's much bigger than the previous mirror. I'm waiting to install in my new renovated bathroom, that will take place this summer May 17, 2016
