The Glass Block with a hole in ne end is called a DecoBloc. The DecoBloc similar to the Decora Pattern is the Wave Pattern. If not stocked in your local store, they can be ordered through the store in even cases of 8 blocks/case.

Can I use Decora blocks to top a concrete block wall?

This question is from Premiere 8 in. x 8 in. x 4 in. Decora Glass Blocks (8-Pack)

I have a garden wall roughly 43 feet long that's constructed of 8X16X6 concrete block. For the first roughly 27 feet the Decora would be only 1 high and for the remaining 16 feet the Decora would be 2 courses high. This is a norther California climate without freeze concerns. Is this a reasonable idea, and what would be the recommended construction method?

Answer:
Glass Blocks can be used for exterior applications, however, we recommend that they are structurally attached at all four sides due to windloads. Glass Blocks are non load bearing so adequate provisions must be made for support of construction above the glass blocks. The maximum recommended width for glass blocks in an exterior application is 25'

Is this glass block clear and see through and has no obstructions within the glass? We recently bought a similar glass block and it had a smokey look within the glass. My husband and I need this to be crystal clear minus the decora look.

Answer:
The glass itself is clear. The Decora Pattern is a "wavy" pattern and distorts the image through the glass.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 63 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to work with The block was easy to install using the Provantage track and spacer system and the Corning silicone. Was able to put up a U shape bar base of 10 wide with Hedron corners and 2 blocks on the sides, by 5 high in a matter of hours. The Hedron spacer system is a little clunky. Ensure the spacers are fully snapped together to avoid any extra space. They still result in a few 'sixteenths' higher than the square block at each row. The full strength of the structure is not reached until the grout (silicone in my case) is in place and dried which takes a few days. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by glass blocks They are exactly what I wanted. I used the "ship-to-store" order method and was completely pleased with that process too. No shipping that way. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Consumer I made a stucco wall and placed the glass blocks in a random style for the outside of a walk-in shower. The blocks allowed light and looked great. June 14, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by most beautiful purchase yet. The hardest part is the ordering and the framing but in the end was the easiest thing I've done to date. November 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful when installed - let's in a dancing rainbow to a small bathroom Let's in light while still providing privacy. Installation in an old wall can be time consuming given the precision required to keep everything true for a single column. Had to purchase more rails and spacers than I needed due to only being sold in packs. Overall I'd do it again but question my idea of doing a whole shower wall sometime in the future. Bit pricey. Pittsburgh Corning provides excellent, detailed instructions on their website. Be sure to read them and watch the videos. Their app for creating a shopping list is great! March 6, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful - used for shower wall Allows light to pass through and small amount of privacy; really pretty addition to my new bathroom. January 23, 2016
