CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by One of the better redwood stains This is a medium semi transparent stain mildly red redwwod stain with that is very good especially for newer woods or any wood not already grayed out. It has a flattish surface that renders a moderately even colored natural looking redwood appearance. I thought it looked more natural than superdeck which had a more shiny surface. My fence really soaked up the stain. It looks good. I applied with a pump sprayer and that worked best. I tried a Wagner paint gun but you really need a full stain mask if you do that and its not worth it. This would be hard to just brush on. August 17, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by SLOW CURE TIME I APPLIED 5 GALLONS OF THIS PRODUCT TO OUR 3 LEVEL DECK, RAILS, POSTS, ETC. The temperature at time of applying was 75 - 85. 3 different days. We did pressure wash the deck first and allowed several days to dry before treating it. After one full week there are still areas that are not dried and are very tacky. The areas of the deck that were very worn seem to soak up the oil and dry within 24 hours, other areas such as close to the house where the finish was not as worn off are not drying after one week and we have had plenty of warm days. I will go back to using Olympic Deck Sealer which is what I had used the prior years. Now I need to wipe with a solvent, or somehow get rid of the sticky, oily, tacky areas as it will soon be fall and leaves and dust starting to stick to this mess. Maybe this product would be better in TX or AZ or someplace extremely hot and dry. I must say - The deck does look great ! I would suggest putting it on in a very thin layer to avoid this happening to you. September 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worked great! After cleaning the filthy redwood deck and allowing the deck to dry for 3 to 4 days, I used this redwood deck stain and sealer that's oil based. I used a 2 gallon garden sprayer and roller and a 4" brush for around the edges for 1200 square feet of deck. It was my first time ever staining and sealing a redwood deck. I did alot of research on websites and talked to some Home Depot employee's on the application process and it went on very smoothly. The Pacific redwood stain look's beautiful! I'll definatly use this product again. August 13, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worked very well I used the redwood stain on brand new redwood material. I used a 1.5 gallon sprayer to apply the product to a vertical fence, and followed wet spots with a paint brush. According to the directions on the can, I over applied this at least by 2 times. At first it looked kind of fakey red, with too much red color. Since I over applied it, it took about 4 days to dry with temperatures between 50 F and 74 F. However, my second attempt I got the application rate correct, and it dried in less than 24 hours. Every day it looks closer to a beautiful, slightly darker version of the original wood. I am very glad I got the red, as it adds the right amount of color. It just gets better and better every day. I am going to coat my deck railings next. Not only would I recommend it, I'm using it again. I have not washed the sprayer between uses; all I did was unplug the nozzle every time. I will throw away the sprayer at the end, as I can't see it ever being clean again. Don't get this on clothes, and don't use cloths if you can avoid it, because they will never dry nor ever be clean again (although my wife did get small spots out of a sweat shirt using stain-stick and washing immediately). I can not speak to the "value" because it's only been 2 weeks, but right now it looks fantastic. November 8, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not for Oregon I am very disappointed. I wanted to convert from an acrylic to an oil stain. I pressure washed the deck. Let in dry. Power sanded the deck and washed it again, then let it dry. I applied this product with a sprayer and then brushed it out. It has been over a month and it is still tacky. I was warned that it takes a long time to cure when the low temp is lower than 60. It is Western Oregon; the low temp is under 60 over 345 days a year. I asked it just takes longer to cure and would it cure? The answer was yes but it could take a couple of weeks. As I said it was been over a month. The only time to apply this product is midsummer (when I want to use the deck) The product will work in dryer climate and applied in very light coats with a brush. PS The deck is stunning. I just can’t walk on it. October 7, 2010
