Always see picture of edging with the spikes tot he outside of the pavers. Anything wrong with doing it the other way, put the spikes on the inside, such that the pavers are on top of spikes? I think it would be a cleaner install, plus I can screen the sand over them and only have them a half inch or so above the ground....so they do not look intrusive.
Asked by: CWJ
It is actually better to put the paver on top of the spikes, especially if you live in a climate where frost heaving occurs. My opinion from experience.

Hi, could someone explain if you install this before or after the pavers are in place? I'm going to be installing over gravel, but I'm sure I need to remove some of it to accommodate the pavers, and I think there must be some sand underneath, right?
Asked by: sPlath
I have done both. But my recommendation is to put the base of the edging under the stone being installed. Simple measuring. Some unique applications benefit with installing afterwards and you may experience that when using the edging.

How do I cut the paver edging to the correct length? Is a hand saw acceptable?
Asked by: PatioMan
Cuts very easy with a hacksaw and a dull blade, which is what I always have.

I just had new sod installed around my round paver walkway and the problem I always have is that the grass always grows over them over time and buries them. I used this product to contain pea pebbles around the pavers. I installed the edging and then put strong weed fabric between, securing it with long staples. Then I put the pavers back and put the pebbles down. It was labor intensive but worth it!!

The ProFlex Edging made it easy to get a professional result with a 90 foot brick walkway using existing, 40 yr old brick. After laying it out, it was simple to establish grade by leveling the edging rails to each other & down the walkway. Once secure is was a breeze to screed the sand off of an establish level guide. Bricks got a tight fit and had a stiff edge to run off of so you can keep it straight. Didn't have curves, but you can with this product too. Lightweight and superior to using metal edging or the typical plastic edging for flower beds. Highly recommend & very high value at a low price. If I was doing this professionally, I would use this every time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked well - great value This product exceeded my expectations. I used two of these kits to install a 50 foot curved walkway in my front yard. I purchased the pavers from a dedicated hardscape yard. The paver seller pushed their edge system as superior to what I could get at a big box store - there edge system was twice as expensive however. I went with this PROFLEX system and it proved quite adequate. I was skeptical of the plastic nails provided with the kit and bought steel spikes in the hardware department to suplement. Turns out the plastic spikes performed better (harder to pull out) than the steel spikes. If I was to do it over again, I would not buy additional steel spikes. For a curved walkway, I might buy additional plastic spikes than are provided in the kit to get the edge to conform to the pavers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get extra stakes This edging is sturdy and easy to use. It looks great and met all my requirements. If you plan to use it on curves, though, you will need more stakes than they provide. There are only enough for the minimum staking recommendation (1 per 18 inches) on straight edges. Plan on buying two or three more bags. (16 -24 more)

The rails themselves are a good product, rigid enough to withhold the pavers I used for my sidewalk however the stakes that came with the pavers were of insufficient length to go through the base material suggested for paver installation. Had to come up with a different stake to use.
