Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cliffhanger801 EXTREMELY Difficult to Install
I've installed hundreds of light fixtures and ceiling fans. This one takes the cake for the most difficult installation. Right out of the box the instructions are nothing more than a diagram of every part labeled with a letter. Then, there is a list of letters separated with commas with an arrow that seems to indicate the aforementioned letters must be secured to the part listed after the arrow. Then move to the next step and it's more letters, commas, and arrows. The only explanation was to note that you can choose how long you want the light to hang from the ceiling by selecting the number of metal rods telescoped together. Otherwise there is no English --or French, Spanish, German, Japanese, or Chinese--instructions.
The box that was shipped to me weighed 31 lbs. Generously giving the packing material 1 lb of that weight leaves a 30 lb light fixture. Now, compound that weight with the fact that it's an entryway pendant light and you're not usually installing this on an 8 ft ceiling. In other words, you're on a ladder trying to hold the glass in place after you're secured the metal frame. To make matters worse, the parts that are supposed to screw into the metal frame are barely the thickness of the glass globe let alone be secured into the frame and have the decorative nut secured to them (which is what ultimately holds that heavy glass up in the air. I got a neighbor to help me with the install. I did away with the rubber washers that were supposed to go between the glass and the metal just to have enough of a bite to get the nut to thread onto the threaded piece described above (barely long enough to transverse the thickness of the glass).
I can only hope the few thread depths I was able to secure the screws and nuts are sufficient to hold this incredibly heavy fixture. If it falls from this installation my lawyers will be in contact with Progressive Lighting as their instructions are grossly insufficient and their parts barely long enough. If I worked for Progressive Lighting I would consider recalling this fixture. That said, I certainly wouldn't buy it again.
