Customer Questions & Answers

Will this hydrangea perform well in part Sun?

Asked by: Shu1
Most hydrangeas actually prefer part sun. Sunny mornings and shady afternoons, otherwise they can wilt and look droopy.

How far apart should I plant them if planting in the ground? Is March too soon to plant them in Chicago? I am new to gardening!
Asked by: Chicago
I would recommend 3ft for plants that grow over 38 inches in height. It should say on the description tag when you purchase as well. If you're worried about frost, March can be too early, but you can always cover your plant with an old pillowcase on really cold nights. Hydrangeas are really hardy plants and do ok in cooler climates. Hope this helps.

Can this be a container plant? I can't put anything in the ground in my tiny backyard.

Asked by: Trish
Hi Trish, Yes, it can grow in a container. In fact we encourage it. I love this plant! It is a perfect little ball of white color. If you are looking to get a quart please keep in mind that is fairly small (about the size of a wide coffee cup). You might want to plant a few in a container if you are looking full color this year. Otherwise I would recommend a larger size, we also offer these in gallon and 3 gallon sizes. Please let us know if you have any other questions. You can always call our hotline if you need any extra tips of tricks. (734)654-7485 Thank you, Shane Franklin Rogers

I purchased several hydrangeas recently, including 4 of these. Unfortunately, one of my plants was damaged during the shipping process (I don't know how, they were packaged really well). All I had to do was email customer service and let them know what happened and they issued an immediate refund! I'm so happy that this was all so easy. I did just go to the store and grab a new plant, because I was heading out that way anyways, but I would have ordered for delivery if I wasn't. The plants I received look really healthy and I can't wait to put them in the ground as soon as this MN spring weather starts behaving! I will post an update when I get some bloomers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good in a Planter My wife takes care of this, so she pays closer attention to this and she waters it well to keep it going and started. So far, it has maintained its colors and it looks like it is strong. Hopefully, if and when I re-plant this to a remote part of the yard, it iwll still be strong or hardy to withstand some neglect. Otherwise, so far it is hanging in there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Healthy Plant! As I have read from previous reviews the packaging is top notch. My plant was intact, nice and green and the size that I would expect for a quart container. I have had it in the ground for about 3 weeks and it is still nice and green and with some new growth. Proven Winners is the best in everything - plants, packaging, etc. My only hope is that they slow down with all of the new hydrangea introductions as I am running out of room!! I can't wait to see how it does next year and with the cooler weather I am sure it will be able to settle in before winter. Thanks Proven Winners!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plants were small and may not make it Although I knew what size pot these came in, I expected the plants to be larger and more vigorous. The attached photo was taken within a week of planting and they were watered every day and planted in partial shade. They probably won't make it and definitely not worth the money. Very disappointed.
