Answer:
YES It doesn't give levels of E.coli, but it does work 100% That is what I had in the well. Bought a ultra violet light filtration system and it worked. The light kills the bacteria as the water flows over the light. I know I was a skeptic too, but it does work

Bacteria Test Kit is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Relieable and accurate We had bacteria in our well water. Had a bacteria remover installed. Bought this to verify the bacteria was gone and it was. The test was so easy just fill the container provided and wait two days and that's it. We then had the health department test the water and it was satisfactory. Now I know I can test my own water when ever I want and get an accurate test. Thanks Home Depot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Accuracy of test The test showed no bacteria in my well water. However, it would be helpful if the manufacturer would provide information on the accuracy of the test, i.e., false positives and false negatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Check the well water yourself I have a weekend lake house with a well for my water. Wells are great, except when you have problems with them, then not so much. We have had several problems, all involving stuff in the water that should not be. To make a long story short, we initially had bacteria from ground water seeping in around the casing. Got that fixed last year with a bit of creative concrete work. This year, we had a strange sulfur smell from the water. First check was to see if it was safe. This kit did the trick. Next was another kit to detect hydrogen sulfate. In the end adding a carbon filter after a pleated filter fixed the problem. I bought two different kits to insure they agreed with each other. They did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just do not overfill, use teaspoon or eyedropper great but do not overfill, easy to pour in too much thereby spilling reactant

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor performance. Easy to use. We were checking for Coli bacteria in our drinking water. We followed the directions exactly. Results were different than a licensed lab testing facility.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use, and works this product did the trick! It was easy to use, and within a reasonable amount of time to allow any possible bacteria to grow in the culture(ours was negative), we had our answer in the two day time frame predicted. What a relief. Although the price competively wasn't bad, you would think a second bacteria test would be included in the package...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good testing product Very pleased with the performance of this test kit. It worked well and is much less expensive then testing water at a local lab.
