The noise reduction filter I purchased came with an adapter for multiple fits. I'm afraid to say that I tossed the adapter aside.

The OD of this diffuser is already 2.25, and tapers slightly larger. I don't think this will work.

Answer:
The OD of the muffler itself is 2.25" so it should work on your blower port. The adapter that comes with it allows you to use it on vacs with blower ports having an ID of 2-5/8".

Answer:
The muffler is designed to fit inside the blower port of most larger Rigid brand vacs. The outside diameter of the muffler is exactly 2 1/4" and it fits both my Rigid 6 hp and my Rigid 5 hp models perfectly. It doesn't seem to adversely affect suction, but it doesn't seem to "muffle" the noise either. I use it primarily to diffuse the output of the blower port and it works great for that purpose.

We regret to inform you that we don’t have the ID and OD of noise muffler VT2525, however, this will fit all RIDGID vacs with blower port. You may or may not need to use the adapter supplied with it depending on the model of the vac.

Answer:
The muffler/diffuser will decrease the noise that comes out of the exhaust port considerably (50%?) as well as diffuse the exhaust itself. It's difficult to determine how much overall noise it will decrease without knowing the ambient noise associated with your particular your vacuum.

I don't know that the decibel reduction is listed in the specs, but in actual use I can definitely say that noise reduction is not much. The real benefit from this muffler is really the exhaust dispersion. But my 6 HP, 16 gallon rigid shop vac is still very loud, and this muffler doesn't change that...at all! Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!
It is recommended that extension wands/hoses should be at least 20 ft. or shorter as it may affect the suction power.

Answer:
It will fit as it is the same diameter as the hose connector and on that model vac will stick out 3-5 inch.
As for appearance I don't think anyone point at it and laugh if that's what you are asking.

Yes, the VT2525 2-1/2" diffuser will fit on the WD4070 just fine. It will intrude a little on the tool storage pocket. If you omit the adapter (with the red locking clip) it will extend out to the same distance as the tool storage pocket. I've attached a photo of mine.

I used this muffler on a different brand vacuum and did not use the adapter. It will fit the 2-1/4" size exhaust port. It protrudes 5-1/2" from the side of the vacuum without the adapter.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Use muffler/ diffuser in place of vf3500 filter for wet applications Why use paper filter vf 3500 for wet applications and chance ruining the $16 unit? Remove the vf 3500 paper filter and then use muffler as external filter; you can add additional material inside muffler (loose enough as not to impede airflow), or attach additional filter paper or similar externally with rubber bands, tape or nylon slip ties. Easy to clean up after use, keeps liquid inside of tank from misting out of unit. July 28, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Accessory Documentation poor Vacuum is excellent, but comes with only one tool. There is no documentation on the box what size hose comes with the tool. Additional accessories come in a few sizes and the stores I went to had these all mixed up in the bins they were supposed to be in. Took multiple trips to store to fully equip the unit with all necessary accessories. The manual does not specify the hose diameter either. Additional extension tubes which come with most other vacs are not included. Total cost to outfit this tool is greater than their more powerful vacs which come with many more accessores standard. Seems a lot to pay for a portable in light of above. June 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not necessary This piece of equipment didn't even help with the filtering out the vacuum. I couldn't return it because it was dusty From the sheet rocking that was on the floor. June 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't work at all Can't complain about the quality of this item. It has a hook so it locks on the vacuum cleaner, the plastic is the usual plastic for vacuum cleaner accessories (very hardy)... however I simply can NOT hear any difference. Am I mistaken there isn't a louder vacuum cleaner than a RIGID? I have a Craftstman (6.5 PHP) Shopvac and a Rigid 5HP PHP. My Craftsman has no noise reduction and it has to be 1/3rd - 1/2 as loud even though it's bigger. I thought putting this noise reducer would maybe make the Rigid as quiet but putting this on didn't seem to make any effect. Maybe it reduces it 3% I don't know, but having a vacuum that's deafening and lowering its sound amount by 3% is still deafening. April 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by vac muffler The vacuum muffler I bought worked pretty good. It took that high pitch whine out of it. May 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No noticeable difference This muffler is pretty useless. I didn't notice any difference with it on or off. The exhaust vent isn't what makes all the noise. I guess it'll work as a good backup in case any fine dust particles makes it through the filter?? April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent! A shop vac, no matter the brand, isnt quiet, so just expect it! The product is not a sound muffler, it works perfect! May 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Diffuser yes, muffler no. Doesn't do much for muffling the sound. I wouldn't recommend this if you are trying to quiet your vac. April 12, 2016
