Customer Questions & Answers

Where is the hand crank? Hand crank lets you raise and lower platform with ease…. I don't see where the hand crank is accessed.

Can you access the hand crank from the ground? Or do you need to get on a ladder and crank it down? I wish someone would do a video of how they get the lift up and down.

Can you add a motor to lift it rather than the hand crank?

Asked by: Jeff
They come with a drill adapter so you can power the lift with a drill motor which works well.

Since the rafters are not on 16" centers, I simply took (2) 2X10s and cut out about 5" on each side for the rafters to fit. This gave me roughly 5" above the rafters for bracing. I secured these to the rafters by screws. I installed the system directly to the 2X10s prior to screwing the 2X10s into place. Works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I actually used this lift to store a camp shell in my garage. Just made a little mod for the camper to connect to the cables. Got the idea from Pinterest. The lift is very sturdy. i had to use some 2 x 4s because the studs in my ceiling didn't line up the bolts that connect the lift to the ceiling. So you may need to buy some 2 x 4s and heavy duty anchor bolts. Other that, the installation was a breeze. Now I have a place to store my camper shell and my garage is more organized. I highly recommend the lift to anyone that needs additional heavy duty storage.

Holds more than I thought it would and the drill operation for raising/lowering is fantastic. Had a little difficulty getting one of my platforms level... I feel like the cables on one side were just longer and even after fully adjusting it up on one side and down on the other it still isn't completely level, but not to the extent that it affects the functionality. I would definitely buy this product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware Be prepared to head back to the store for lumber and bolts. No house has joists 12in apart, that standard is 16. So what you'll find is you have to build the mount overhead to put it up. The base frame is not thick steel and the frame will bend. It will hold 250lbs but only when evenly distributed across the platform. Check Costco, they have a better more well built product that will hold 800lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great space saver Mounted by myself. Would be better if I had help. Instructions were clear and accurate. You will want to use electric power to raise and lower platform because hand crank is slow. If installed correctly, lift device will not fail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easily used for lifting my Jeep hardtop on and off.... Easily used for lifting my Jeep hardtop on and off. PRRO TIP: if you have a potential overhang on the item you're storing, make sure the crank point is on the short end, not the overhang. When the platform is almost to the top, the crank binds if you have to extend the rod out more than a foot.

I am not the most mechanically inclined, so I was worried that this would be difficult to assemble. It was not. The product assumes you have joists on 16" centers. Well my garage was put together quickly and so the joists are not "exactly" 16". However, there is enough slop on the end pieces of this unit to at least deal with the few inches off that my joists were set. Note, if your joists are WAY off, or if you don't want to mount it to the joists, they provide an alternative install method using 2x4s. The most difficult part (for me) was marking the joists (lots of overhead work, I am not in great shape) and then drilling the holes, and putting in the wood screws (again, lots of overhead work). Once the two end pieces were bolted to the ceiling, the rest was quite easy. Using the drill adapter made raising and lowering the unit easy. It took a little bit of work to get the unit level, but the instructions cover that quite well. It's a really nice design. I've only had it a few weeks, but so far, I love it.

Using this to elevate an 8x4 train table in a garage with a 16' or so ceiling. With my Dewalt drill I can raise and lower very quickly. Thinking of buying a second.
