Product Overview

No Ductwork? No Problem. Ramsond Ductless (Duct-Free) Mini Split Air Conditioning Systems can be installed in virtually any location. Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioners are also referred to as Zone systems. They cool/heat the zone or areas in which they are installed. When the zone is in use, the mini split system can be turned on. When the zone is not in use, you can simply turn it off. This zone capability allows for substantial energy savings. Ramsond Heat Pump systems not only provide cooling during the hot summer months, but also provide efficient heating for the winter. They are far more efficient and substantially more economical compared to conventional central air conditioning systems. Ductless Mini Split systems are comprised of two main components: 1) The outdoor unit (Condensing Unit), and 2) The indoor unit (Evaporator Unit). The installation is simple. The indoor unit hangs on a metal bracket (supplied) that attaches to the interior wall, much like a picture frame. A 3 in. hole is then drilled through the wall. The Line set and communication wires are passed through this hole and connect the indoor and outdoor unit together. The Main power is supplied to the outdoor unit. The indoor unit draws its power from the outdoor unit. The system is operated by a wireless remote control (supplied). Simply set the remote control to the desired temperature and the system maintains the desired temperature.

Thank you, for those who mentioned the voltage and amperage of this unit. Knowing this puts this item on the potential purchase list for a workshop / shed I am working on.
For those of you DYIers you will want to use 12/2 w/ground romex wire or similar, DO NOT use less than a 12Ga wire for this 20 Amp unit.. As an Electrician.

Answer:
The unit is 110. Yes you can wire it to the panel with a single 20amp breaker. Some would suggest using an outside pull out breaker, but the only pull outs I could find were 60 amps. To me that is too much in the event of and overload!

110 on a 20amp breaker. I used 12/2 wire, but I believe you could use 14/2.

Answer:
There should be another small connector packed with the other wires and copper tubing in that indoor unit. You may have to look real good in the foam insulation. You should find the big wire and small wire wrapped in it. The connector will look similar to the one on the outdoor unit!

Alan, there is a small connector on the back of the indoor unit. It's small and I can see it getting caught up between the pipes, but it's there. Good Luck. -Jose

The heating portion is not functioning correctly. I had a local company that works on my other AC/Heating units check the pressure and the Freon level, but since there is no manual on the unit, they would not do anything else. The unit cycles off/on , but does not heat. I have a thermometer in the room and it does not change after running several hours.
The heating unit worked well last winter. The AC worked OK during the summer.

Window Shakers are always a condensing mess, VERY noisy, and run all the time increasing our electric bill. This unit is whisper quiet. Condensing unit is outside detached from home so no water running down the wall. It cycles on and off as needed, so the electric isn't running constantly, I look forward to the savings. I wish I would have done this the first time ! Had an HVAC technician install for me, unless you're REALLY handy I recommend you do so as well. Instructions are not great. Best advice .... print manual off of HD purchase site ,it is specific to model with better detail and information.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great We purchased and installed this in our back porch in Houston, Texas. The room is over 300 sq ft and faces south. We did insulate and put in low e windows. The unit does a great job heating and cooling. Very quiet. The power cord wasn't long enough for us and there is a lot of hose, tubing and wires to secure on the outside. We should have laid it all out before we started the project. The remote is confusing. Doesn't look like the one in the instruction manual. We got it to do what we need it to do. We did not need to call a A/C person. Hubby installed it in about 2 hours. It has been installed and running for about 6 months and we have had no issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good. It is a little harder to install than you would think, mostly because the instructions are so poor. They are intended to cover the installation of several models so they are deliberately incomplete vague or ambiguous in some places. They were clearly translated from Chinese by somebody whose English wasn't very good and all of the critical specifications are metric (millimeters of mercury instead of inches of mercury, etc.) How much extra trouble could it be for them to provide a separate instruction manual for each model written in good English with equivalent specifications set forth (i.e. 10 mm hg/.4 inches hg)? You can study up on the internet on how these things work, translate the specifications and eventually puzzle through the installation but you had better have a little background in household electrical circuits and refrigeration or you won't know what to look for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from sham sale in the fine print under specifications, this product reflected "non-returnable". Yet -- I have been unable to get this product installed. The home depot referred installation services for A/C and heating refused to install it since I did not purchase it "through them" (these are home depot vendors). After much search, I found a first willing to give a quote -- they quoted $2,300 for installation of the $900 equipment. I found one other service provider on my own willing to provide an estimate. Once they saw the equipment, they refused to provide an estimate citing that this is poor quality equipment from China - and they do not want to be responsible for it. I cannot pay $2000+ and am concerned anyway about the quality/ maintenance, so I have just wasted $800. Home depot gave me 10% refund. Gee, thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet and Easy to Install The first thing that surprised and pleased me was the ease of installation. The condensing unit has proved to be amazingly quiet, so much so that my son in law, who helped install the A/C, will be purchasing one for his own home. The low 7 Amp load allows the A/C to be plugged into almost any outlet and will make it possible to connect to a portable generator should we have an extended power outage. The A/C has also worked quite well in cooling our master bedroom and bathroom along with a bit of the hallway and an adjacent bedroom. We will probably purchase one or two more ductless A/C units and eventrually replace our central A/C system . In general, we are very pleased with the Ductless A/C.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY Non returnable (trust me i tried) Arrived damaged (looked liked someone opened the box to me). After that i had no choice but to install as is. Installation was not too bad although the book was useless. The inside unit has a weird odor coming from the plastic that will not go away. No telling what its made from. The AC part works but the remote does not have a HEAT option when i cycle through it. Epic waste of money
