Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Biff This product is 25 grams of pure powdered Citric acid
This product works great. But if you read the MSDS you will see that it is just 25 grams of pure powdered Citric acid. There are cheaper sources for Citric acid since it is also used for cooking and canning. You can find it in bulk for less than 25% the cost of this item.
Another way to slow down the set time for Rapid Set cement products is to cool the mix. Keep the bags of cement cool, use cold water, and in extreme conditions you can substitute an equal amount of ice for mix water by weight. So if you normally use 10 lbs of water per 55 lb. bag of Cement-All, you can instead use 5 lbs. of water and 5 lbs of ice. Also you can use a light colored canopy to keep your pour area out of direct sunlight.

My first back of Rapid Set concrete turned into a brick almost instantly due to the Texas heat in August. Added in a bag of the Set Control, and had more than enough time to work with it before it started to harden. GREAT!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GFactor Important Info to Understand Before Using This Product
The following is basic info you need to know if you are not familiar with how fast Rapid Set Products can set. If you are using this because you are working on a hot day, there are a couple of other things that should be done BEFORE using this product.
1: If it is Warm or Hot outside, keep the bags of cement in the shade or better yet inside an AC conditioned space. If the dry concrete is above 80 degrees than you are already asking for a short set time, the cooler you can get the mix (No, do not go to the point of freezing temps) the closer you will be to the directions set time.
2: Do not use warm water out of a hose. Either let it run so it turns cool, or better yet, use Ice Water (with the ice cubes melted 100%).
3: Do not use a wheel barrow that has been sitting in the sun for hours.
Do you see a theme here? The temperature of EVERYTHING will have a dramatic effect on the set time. One of the other reviews stated this product only gave him a couple of extra minutes. That was probably true, BUT when you don't properly prepare / ensure everything is at cool temperature, there is only so much one little packet can do. Not to mention taking the above steps will help save you money as you will need to buy less of these packets.
Rapid Set makes come incredible products and this is no different. As with most things, understanding a few key details you may have not known makes all the difference in the world.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by MGonz Does not make a difference...
I used this to delay the setting time when working in 70-80 degree weather, but in reality it may only buy you an extra 2 mins at the most....this powder is like gold-really expensive! Didn't really see the difference even when I added 2 packs to one 55Lb bag. I would say avoid this product, and just work as fast as you can when using Rapid Set Products.

prefect for extending the working time as rapid set cement products start curing really fast. I just sprinkled an estimated amount into an already mixed batch of cement. mixed a little more to evenly distribute the set control and went to work.
