My concrete steps started to disintegrate last year and the stones were showing through so I patched them with DAP concrete patch but the grey color didn't match the beige color of the steps or short sidewalk. So I found this sandstone colored Deck Restore online and ordered from Home Depot. The 5 gallon drum arrived promptly. It has a lid that can be pried off like any large drum and also a nice screw off spout which is what I used. The compound is fluid and pours easily. It is truly a "cement paint" that goes on like very thick paint but dries like cement. I did NOT use a paint roller since that made a weird texture and was uneven - instead, I used a plastic putting knife - about 6 inches wide - to spread it on and smooth it. After you apply it, it takes awhile to dry - sets up in one day but remains soft for a few days - which allows you to smooth out any dripping that sometimes occurs on vertical surfaces. The camel color reminds us of the colors used at Mexican resorts we visit every spring on vacation, and it looks very nice. Our neighbors complimented us on the very cool look and color.
Note that the photo shows only the FIRST COAT and as you can see it looks really nice in comparison to the grey color which you can see on the top landing. Recommend two applications - the second coat smoothed out the inconsistencies but I'm showing the first coat to show how it covers right away. The key is using a putty knife to apply it, not a paint roller, and smoothing out more after it is partially dried.
I'm VERY pleased with this product which gave me exactly the solution I needed for my steps. We will find out this winter if it flakes off from shoveling although right now it appears to be very hard and impervious to shoveling and I think it will hold up very well. I have a hunch that this is a solution that a lot of people are probably looking for.

We chose to try this instead of replacing an old deck. The employees were really pushing the competing product instead, but we wanted to keep our cost down - turns out we should have listened. It says on here that it covers 100 square feet with 2 coats, but on the product (in store) it says it covers 100-120 with 2 coats... it's really more like 60-80. We bought (2) 4-gallon containers - the first container only covered 140 sq. ft with one coat. We ended up having to go back and buy more... Our deck is 170 sq. ft. So 2 containers should have covered 200-240 square feet, with 2 coats...right?
It also says that it will fill cracks up to 1/4 inch deep, which is true, but only if you apply the paint side-to-side over the crack - it will NOT seep in (too thick), and it doesn't cover by floating over the surface.
We did better with the second coat, because we ignored the directions. This product has a 'special' roller you're supposed to use, and the instructions tell you to only roll it on in one direction. We realized that this was why it wasn't covering like it was supposed to, so we got out the regular paint rollers and acted like we were painting normally (back and forth) and it spread much better and still gave us the texture.
This paint is VERY adhesive, which they list in the "pros" section here, but which I think made the job harder - obviously you want it to adhere, but it was really difficult to spread it around this way.
So, my small deck looks better from a distance, but we're going to have to reapply something on it again next year. Value-wise, I would have been better off with one of the more expensive products (assuming that covered like it should) rather than 3 of these. Heck, I could have spent $200 on outdoor paint and taken my time and it would have had the same effect. Not recommended.

Restore was used on a 6 year old deck. The product was applied with recommended textured roller. Preliminary results are great. The texture provides a non slip surface yet allows a bare footed usage. this was not possible prior to application. Product dried quickly and coverage was as stated. Long term results will telltale the value of this product as a substitute for more expensive replacements such as composite decking.
