Customer Questions & Answers

Would it fit an envirotemp 40 gal water heater

Natural gas
Asked by: Charlie
Maybe Charlie? If you have the standard 3/4" female pipe bib on your water heater and only if you have one (1) inch insulation. I don't believe the neck on this valve is long enough to accommodate two (2) inches of insulation. Per my attached picture, you'll see my water heater only has One (1) inch insulation.

It was easy to install, also the exact specs and dimensions as my old (defective) valve. This is a low cost, functional valve, but temperamental and can leak if the shut-off plunger is not perfectly centered on the seat. After a few tries (6-7) exercising the valve (via the lever) I got it to seat properly. Although, I hesitate to exercise (flush) it on an annual basis like I have in the past with a higher quality valve. Good, economical price and on the shelf for a quick fix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water Heater Relief Valve Water heater started leaking from valve. Valve would not reseat. Replaced valve which only involved cutting output tube and unthreading remaining section from valve so valve could be removed. Valve came with thread sealant on it so no addition sealant was needed. Cutting overflow tube may not be needed in your case, my tube was 6 feet long after elbow joint and soldered together.
