It is for straight shaft only. The drive device in a curved shift will not last.

Answer:
You should not use this on a curved shaft.
The straight shaft has a solid metal drive shaft.
The curved shaft has a Metal mesh rope (cable) shaft.
Because of the weight of the cutter head there is a high likelyhood of twisting, snapping or kinking the cable in the curved shaft if you jam or stall the head.
Pretty sure this would void any warranty.

Answer:
Yes. I put this on a cheap "weed-eater" brand curved shaft trimmer, and it works fine. Although my trimmer is a bit overwhelmed, but that's because it's a wimp. Lol

My backyard has several small blackberry bushes sprouting up. I need an effective trimmer blade that will cut them off nearly flush with the ground. Is this cutter blade up to the task?

Answer:
I don't see why not. I cut through small saplings up to quarter inch diameter. It won't be a clean cut but it will cut them down. Then you can put some stump killer or brush killer on the fresh cut vine and it should kill the root system.

Some straight shaft weed eaters have a bolt extension that must be removed to install the brush cutter.

Answer:
Hello Jerry, It's a left handed thread. Sometimes you have to use a very thin wrench to hold the drive bolt. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Not sure what you have tried to do. But mine has a left hand thread. It loosens when turned clockwise. Also there should be a couple holes in the shaft that if you line them up, you could put a skinny screwdriver in to keep the shaft assembly from turning as you try to loosen or tighten the bolt or cutting head.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 51 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Time saving tool I had 1/8 acre of tall (3-4ft) dense overgrowth on a foreclosed home purchase. I bought this unit with optimism it would tackle the job. Two hours later the entire area was cut flat. I do feel it's important to have a powerful enough trimmer to match the task. Mine is a 32cc Stihl , had no problem clearing the area August 15, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It works, but not worth it It does mow down brush, but it is slow to get going. If it hits anything it has to get back up to speed. If the blades hit anything they become dull and you can't sharpen them. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by highly recommended This thing is great. I attached it to my Cub Cadet trimmer when when I got tired of going through string. This works much better. It is like a lawn mower on a stick. June 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tough and durable. It's a definite time saver. Clearing light brush made easy. On my second on now. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap entertainment for those used to a string trimmer It was time to cut down the overgrowth. Somewhere along the way I lost my spool of trimmer line and decided to get this sucker. I wasn't disappointed! I blasted through my yard, down the stairs, clearing my stairway of vines going from tank to take of fuel laughing and jeering on the bushes that had once beaten me with a simple string trimmer. Yes, now this morning I stand back and admire my handy work and smile. I had a LOT of fun destroying the blades on this thing. Very entertaining. March 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jesse work real good for my application. I would definitely recommend this product and I will buy another one... February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buy it I have bought them all, this little beast deserves its 5 star rating I've spent over 4 hours with the first set of blades slicing through black berry and 1 inch plus brush this thing makes short work of it all, I changed the blades today because I felt sorry for the first set that had shown lots of wear but still not ready to give up, I will never use anything else even with fence strikes won't slow this thing down, don't waste your money on anything less you'll be replacing blades every 10-15 minutes November 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One tough cutter I bought this product to clear dense overgrowth on a construction site. I connected it with ease to a Shindaiwa commercial trimmer using the tools provided in the package. The brush cutter performed better than expected. I was cutting down small trees and large brush. The product is very durable as I hit several solid objects (concrete, steel, barbed wire, ect.) without destroying the blades. Very pleases with this product. November 10, 2015
