Serious DIYer. Have and use a regular 7 1/4 circular saw and thought I could cut most anything with that. Once I got this as a Christmas present I use it everywhere I need to cut. As long as you don't need more than an inch thick you are good, at that point switch to larger 7 1/4 saw. Easy to move around with your tools, doesn't make a racket when you cut, easily handled with one hand.
(small con) The laser is a great idea but having separate batteries and separate on/off switch is a cop out. Rockwell should spend another dollar or two in costs and have the laser powered by the AC and turn it on when you click the safety.
Ironically I am here on the HD site to look up replacement blades for this unit as I use it so much the wood blade is dull and thought I would write a review now that I have owned it a few months.

This mini saw really packs a big punch! It has been the perfect tool for so many projects lately, it is now our "go to" for almost everything.

I have used this tool for about a month and it has performed well. I am a little disappointed at the cut depth. At 1-1/16", it limits the saw's usefulness somewhat. Otherwise it's a handy tool and eliminate some trips to the table saw.

Saw is difficult to start with the plunge switch in front of the start trigger, and as well makes it dangerous that you have to engage the plunge before you can operate the motor, so when you are cutting and you are trying to line up your cut, I have have this drop into the material before I was ready and about ran up my other hand 1 time and and back towards my hip at another time. remember you are operating this with one hand and the saw has extremely good torque,do not be deceived it is a strong contender. It would be a lot better with good rear sight so that you can tell exactly where your blade is lined up at and either a safe molded area for a second hand or a small screw in handle for a second hand when needed. It cut everything I asked it to and would buy again, as well laser batteries are lame.
