Why is this 1 gallon kit $133.94 and a 2 gallon kit cheaper at only $99 ? Is there a quality difference?

Asked by: bub2909
The 2 gal kit says it is NOT chemical resistant and the 1 gal says it is.. Not sure if that is a typo or really the difference.

i already have epoxy on garage floor. it is showing signs of wear. what paint can I put over without removing or etching surface?

Asked by: gino
Happy to help, Gino. Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Kit can be applied to previously coated floors with a few extra preparation steps. Previously coated floors need to be in good condition with proper adhesion to the concrete substrate. Check the adhesion of the previous coating by cutting a small X in the coating using a sharp razor knife. Firmly apply a piece of 5” duct tape over the center of the X cut, and then pull off with a fast snap. If more than 10% of the taped area is removed, the original coating is not bonded well and needs to be removed chemically or mechanically with a grinder before applying. If the coating is bonded well, for best adhesion results, sand the entire surface with a 60 grit sandpaper before application.

Asked by: Ken
Great question, Ken! Each 1 car kit of Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Garage Floor coating has a recommended coverage of 250 square feet. Please keep in mind that the surface condition and application method can affect the coverage rate.

1 gal. Gray High-Gloss 1-Car Garage Floor Kit (Case of 2) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Great product. I followed instructions and everything went smoothly. I did my 3 car garage and bought 1 single car garage kit along with the 2.5 car garage kit. The temperature outside was 66-69 deg. and the flooring took 2.5 days to cure to where it wasn't tacky. Make sure you don't shut your garage door all the way until the floor has cured, otherwise the rubber seal on your door will stick to the floor and you'll have a line along the edge of your floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Three months on it is performing exactly as advertised. PROs: - Written instructions were very easy to follow. - Easy to apply, quick to dry, solid as can be expected. - Repels water, chemicals, does not chip when a tool is dropped on it. - Looks great, neighbors are envious. CONs: - DVD video instructions differed from the written ones, specifically in the time to wait before allowing vehicles on the surface. I erred on the side of caution and went with the longer duration of the two (1 week.) CAUTIONs: - If it is the warm season, you will need to work *very* quickly before the seal mixture sets up. The instructions do cover this. - This product comes with a set of safety guidelines that should not be ignored. The etching compound and process produces a gas, that if your garage is like most garages, will not necessarily dissipate before you inhale it. Be sure to wear some sort of mask or you will come down with the worst headache you've ever had. Don't forget your gloves, goggles, long pants, and closed toed shoes. - Triple check you have all the necessary additional components such as the tools listed on the box. - This product, like most sealers, can make your floor surface slippery when wet. I recommend purchasing one of the available traction additives, which amounts to a very fine grain sand. Manufacturer is irrelevant, it's sand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice apperance and adds class I decided to cover my basement floor with the rust-oleam brand to sell my house. I have used the professional stuff in the past on a garage floor and decided that I did not want to pay the price for the basement and would try the rust-oleam brand. I did the floor in steps buying the 2 1/2 car boxes first. the basement took a total of a 6 car garage worth of paint; and I would have rated it higher but I hade two problems. The first was an area that never dried, and after calling the help line; they wanted me to strip the floor and start again. I chose to was the area several times with muriatic acid until the stickiness went away and then repainted it. that solution worked well. The other problem was that my last box of the single car paint ended up drying a liter shade of gray and did not match the rest of the floor. I can live with it and it still looks better and cleans better then before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anyone can do this! This product is very easy to use. My garage floor looks like a showroom floor. It took less time than I imagined to complete. This project was quick and easy with great results. I would suggest using the non-slip additive to prevent slips and falls as the floor is very slippery when wet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Product was difficult to mix thoroughly and dry I stirred product for 5 minutes and applied to 1/2 of garage floor, then stirred more and applied to other half. Color came out differently on both sides. Second side dried in 2 day time, but first side remained sticky for more than 1 week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This is the second garage floor where we have used this product. The first was in a new house which had a brand new garage floor and this time it was on a floor that was 12 years old and full of stains. Both time this product worked well. Covered completely and looks great. The first floor was 6 years old when we sold the house but still looked good. Expect the same long term results this time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product and value Worked as described on the enclosed video. Easy to work with and seemed to go farther than instructions said. I used on new smooth concrete. Planning to use on the new garage floor that I'm construction now.
